According to fangraphs, it looks like this was Marinaccio’s last option year. They weren’t going to use him the rest of this year and they probably didn’t see them adding him to the MLB roster at the start of 2025. I think this is just letting him figure out his 2025 plans early.

He really looks the part of a major leaguer. He’s got excellent mechanics. I was hoping to see him continue to develop his control.

He was awesome in 2022. Unfortunately with injuries last year he was never able to find his groove again, and then this year I don’t think he got enough of a chance to figure it out again in the MLB. He will be a worthwhile project for someone next year IMO.

I didn’t expect this DFA. Marinaccio was not great but was serviceable. However, he fell out of favor with the FO this year. That is why he was up and down all season.
