New England Patriots Catchup links – Piling on after Pats blowout loss: Read it and weep

  • Post Game Notes: Patriots at Jets. Drake Maye sees first NFL action; WR DeMario Douglas has career-high with 7 receptions; LB Raekwon McMillan makes second start with the Patriots, ties career-high in tackles; Jahlani Tavai has 5th career 10-tackle game; More.
  • Gamebook: Full Patriots-Jets stats.
  • Evan Lazar’s Game Observations: Eight takeaways from the Week 3 loss. Patriots pass protection continues to sink the passing offense; How much blame goes to Jacoby Brissett? Defense Misses 14 tackles in uncharacteristically sloppy performance; More.
  • Mike Dussault’s Rapid Recap: The Jets jumped out to an early lead on the Patriots and never looked back, dominating New England en route to a 24-3 win on Thursday Night Football; More.
  • Post Game Quotes: Patriots and Jets.
  • Press Conferences: Jerod Mayo – Jacoby Brissett – Drake Maye – David Andrews, Jabrill Peppers, Jahlani Tavai, Rhamondre Stevenson.
  • Andrew Callahan relays the Patriots reacting to last nights blowout loss: “We came out and got our a— kicked. Plain and simple.”
  • Jerry Thornton’s Knee-jerk reactions to Week 3: Pats-Jets. There’s no honey dipping this donut to make it go down easier. When you consider the utter domination the Patriots allowed on both sides of the ball, the only surprising aspect of the game is the outcome. They lost 24-3 but it felt like you could’ve doubled that first number and multiplied the second by zero.
  • Phil Perry tells us what we learned in Pats-Jets: Pass protection woes are unsustainable.
  • Mike Kadlick posts five next-day thoughts after the loss on Thursday night: The Patriots’ defense severely missed Ja’Whaun Bentley; Touches for Pop Douglas; Brissett is not the problem; More.
  • Chris Mason gives us 7 takeaways from loss to Jets and Drake Maye’s debut: 1. Abysmal showing from the offense.
  • Alex Barth came away with 7 takeaways from the blowout loss. Patchwork O-line doesn’t hold up; More.
  • Andrew Callahan shares some Week 3 thoughts: Patriots’ talent deficit exposed.
  • Mark Morse shares his observations from the anemic 24-3 loss. Can Kyle Dugger play any worse than he did in this game? He is horrible in pass coverage, and he couldn’t stand up to the run as a LB. He is not living up to the contract he signed in the offseason.

  1. I agree with Lazar that they tried to overcorrect the lack of passing from last week. The Jets defense is supposed to be weaker on the run game, so they would have had more success running (as we saw with the first two games).
