A sweep tomorrow puts us back at .500, just as it was meant to be.
The Rays desperately need more from our offense next year.
Pieces I think can have a positive impact next year: – Brandon Lowe – Yandy Diaz – Junior Caminero – Josh Lowe – Jonathan Aranda – Richie Palacios? – Jonny DeLuca? – Christopher Morel? – Curtis Mead?
Those last four guys need a big improvement, and even on top of that, we need some sort of big piece not listed here to carry all of this. Also need Jose Siri and Jose Cabellero to be closer to league average hitting.
I’m pretty confident the pitching will improve. We have a three very talented young pitchers, plus Springs and Littel, and oh btw McClanahan is back. Our depth is Alexander, Lopez, and Seymour in Durham. And we’ve already remade our bullpen.
I don’t think this team is in a position to tear it all down and restart around Caminero. I think we’d need one or two big pieces to be confident enough to do that, and we just don’t that that right now. We would also need to know what we are getting back would be better.
We need to bring in a good hitter, and I don’t think we have the farm system to afford acquiring this piece via trade. Also, I always hate how we surrender on offense at catcher, we should try to bring someone in there who is offensively positive.
