REKAP: ⚾️ Chicago Cubs 5-0 win over Washington Nationals. Nice win, but wish year wasn’t a fail

The #chicagocubs inch closer to an 80 something win season that will again come up short of the postseason. Yes, they took 3 of 4 from the #washingtonnationals, but it’s too little too late. #shotaimanaga was outstanding yet again. The #cubs offense hit 3 HRs, including another from #michaelbusch.

#kap says it’s disappointing the more he watches this team because things would’ve and could’ve been different if they had a legitimate closer. It was the same problem from a year ago. It’s something that needs to be addressed in the offseason.

  1. On the Bears reKap you said you were going to hit them with the hard questions tomorrow. Why weren't the Cubs hit with any hard questions from you this season? If I were a reporter, it would be worth getting kicked out just to ask Counsell, "What exactly was the thought process that caused you to put Smyly in a game without a 10 run lead?"

  4. Whenever i visit these comments sections, i feel like im the only person seeing big pictures. This is the first year with a new GM, i wasnt expecting a something magical. Same with the bears, its a rookie QBs first season. Im not expecting magic for a year or two with either team

  7. Oh it won’t get fixed this offseason. Going to be the same roster and some prospects. And those prospects could be mediocre. We don’t know. Jim Bowden was on your podcast and said he wasn’t buying stock in their farm system. He said he would buy stock in the reds and pirates. So it’s looking like a failed rebuild. Jed will more than likely be fired next year and the next guy they hire will have to tear it down again. Never ending cycle of suck with this organization.

  8. I don’t think position players were the biggest weakness. Looking around the field, there isn’t much that needs changing. Need a couple solid additions to the rotation, for sure, and the bullpen needs a couple flashy arms. I look forward to seeing the team next year. I hope there aren’t many changes to the roster.

  11. Tanner Scott. If you can't get him, trade for Mason Miller. The Cubs sure as hell have enough "prospects". We need CHANGE in 2025! Interpret that however you'd like. CUBS!!!

  12. The pressure is off that’s why they were hitting home runs today. This season has been disappointing. But during the cold winter months I’ll miss our Cubbies and baseball.
