Adding the relevant quotes from the story:
“I have no ego nowadays, man,” he said. “I’m not this younger guy. I’m not 23-year-old me.
“Like I said, I know how much I’ve contributed to this team to get to this point, and I’m open to doing whatever they need me to do to help continue to contribute.”
“I’m a realist,” he said. “I realize the game’s valued around swing-and-miss, especially going into the playoffs. That’s not necessarily my forte. So, yeah, like I said, I know I can get outs in big moments with anybody. So I have that confidence. I know whenever you put me in a game, it’s not like I’m ever doubtful. It’s baseball. I can get anybody out at any moment.”

Stro “is the” man
Was really surprised that this wasn’t covered anywhere — on this sub, on Jomboy, nowhere. Everyone jumps on Stroman when he has bad outings (and he’s definitely had a few stinkers), but he’s been nothing short of a model teammate. Hope this balances out the narrative
A big change from his Blue Jays self… I wonder if it’s a PR answer, as Nestor was certainly not happy at all
Nice to see. Need guys like this to accept their roles and be in the right mindset, ready to contribute if their number is called.
Good for him. Any team could use a team-first player so extra rooting for him in the playoffs.
“Clubhouse cancer”
Not trying to lower the work Stroman has done himself because he’s truly an awesome, selfless dude from all we have seen this year but man this is the type of stuff that comes from building a great culture in the clubhouse. Stroman is at the top of the dugout congratulating his teammates all the time. He’s vocally propping up the whole team on twitter and in pressers. He’s struggled but I don’t care, I need a dude like this on my team.
Stroman’s performance has been spotty, but his conduct as a Yankees has been exemplary. I still remember feeling instantly better when he went to bat for Holmes after a blown save.
I’m hoping he will get his Patrick Corbin act. A starter comes in as a relief pitcher locking down the WS. Go get ’em big dog.
They could NEVER make me hate you stro
A really big contrast to Nestor’s answer when it happened to him a few weeks ago which was universally praised as well.
He could be really valuable out of the bullpen in the post-season
