Seattle Seahawks Flex Defensive Line Depth Minus Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy II

When Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy II went down with injuries in the first half, the Seahawks looked to be in trouble up front on defense. But the defensive line group showed off its depth and versatility in a 24-3 beatdown of the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Hosts Corbin Smith and Rob Rang discuss how Seattle overcame Williams and Murphy’s absence in the second half, including an under-the-radar dominant performance from nose tackle Johnathan Hankins, tackle listener questions in their weekly Monday mailbag, and share their in-depth takeaways from Sunday’s win after reviewing All-22 film on Monday Musings.

  1. Did they? It seemed every run went to 10 yards. Had Miami just handed the ball off they would have run it down Seattle's throat. Miami had the same problem as Seattle they could stay out of their own way. Two lucky tips that could have bounced a difference way and ended up as INTs. Penalties it seemed every down on offense. When they were shooting themselves in the foot Seattle moved the ball easily on Miami. If changes are made to the horrible LE, C and RG spots it's going to be a long season. All three have been horrible. And it's being kind.

  2. Seattle hasn't played a QB in three weeks. I take the pass defense with a grain of salt. After Monday night if you hold the Lion's offense in check, I may get more on the band wagon. They have played anyone in 3 weeks. Grats they beat trash. But beating trash doesn't make you good. I said a few weeks ago Seattle should start 3-1 and they probably will. Now you play 500 the rest of the year you are 10-7 and probably in the playoffs.

  3. The stupidest take I've ever heard in pro football yet is to trade DK Metcalf trade Geno Trey Jackson trade charbonnet trade cross before you trade DK Metcalf he's your franchise player. You trade him. You might as well trade half the fan base too. What could we possibly get to replace? DK Metcalf you guys are over here saying we could get more for him. What do you mean? What could we possibly get? There isn't a rookie coming out of college or a receiver in the NFL that could replace him not one. Tyreek Hill is supposed to be the best receiver in football. Well he looked like ass in the last game. Nah absolutely don't trade DK Metcalf you might as well have trade. Steve largent. That is just the dumbest outtake I've heard yet and I hear it all the time and it's stupid every time I hear it. My opinion and a lot of other people's

  4. Great first half but scrambled up second. They are still blending their skills together. This takes time. Trending up for sure. I believe another win for Monday night. 21-12.
Not too much depth in the past quarterback’s game. Still Geno is looking good. Each game is so different.

  5. Seahawks are going to be out matched by Detroit. One of Seattle's advantages may be in the innovations of the coaching staff. They need to start showing more wrinkles in the D and O, especially the O. Needless holding penalties, illegal motions, etc. have got to be cleaned up. Same mistakes have been made in the first three games. That really raises questions as to the intelligence and talent on the interior line.

Abe Lucas has not been a participant in practices. It's the fourth week already. How is he going to be ready to play in week 5? Also, Christian Haynes has got to elevate his presence in practices because we are really hurting in the interior. I'd like to see them give Olu a shot at playing guard.

  6. Who knows, maybe Dk or Geno has to go. I give that a 10% chance. John Schneider wants to win the Super Bowl. Your not going to do that getting a second round pick for DK. For us, the big man scores touchdowns. Other teams know that DK has good hands, not great, and he will cost $30 million. We need DK. He touch wood has been very healthy. He could play for 8 more years. Geno is worth a new contract. Geno's age is a non factor. He is as young a 33 year old a very good QB can be. Trade neither one.

  7. I agree that a road game in Detroit is not a great time to make changes on the O line, but we dont need to start losing to make a change. If need be put Olu at center, Conner Williams at guard for Tomlison, put Haynes at right guard. Conner Williams played four years at guard for a very good Cowboys O line. With that, you have your 5 best players on the field. Also, it's not as though up to this point Conner is on his way to the pro bowl. Conner will improve every game, and by mid-season, he will be above average. I have thought Olu has played pretty well. Somebody tell me what the coaches don't like about his play. Hell, im sure he could play guard better than what we are seeing. Curtis deserves a shot. There is no perfect time to make changes. Just don't wait too long.
