2. I was leaning towards believing he would opt out but I hear he’s been a great mentor to Pete Crow Armstrong and may just want to stick around. He’s the closest thing to a Star the Cubs have so if he wants to stay I would be ok with it. He’s not the reason the Cubs are not in the playoffs. 25 BS by the BP is . Jed Hoyer refused to go get a closer. Now Paredes looked good tonight. Could he be the future closer? Will have to see. Just can’t believe Milw would give up a pitcher with a sparkling era under 2. But the Cubs will take him.

4. Belli is the best guy on the team and is what a World Series team wants on the roster. The question is does HE think the Cubs will make that kind of push next year? Because there is at least $100 million contract on the table from the big boys; the Mets, Yankees and perhaps even his old Dodger team will all be in on him. He likes being here but he wants to win, and a good guess is he does opt out unless, of course Jed assures him of competitive off season moves.

   They can easily afford to keep him; money is not the problem.

   I hope he stays. There are others who can be replaced…

7. Why does everyone want him to opt out? You can't have too many good players, and no matter what bs is said, the team has plenty of money.

8. Get used to this, current ownership will only do what it takes to keep the seats full. marquee was doa and will continue to block fans from watching games. You will be teased about great acquisitions that will never happen, you will be charged the highest prices in MLB as the charade continues. Bellinger or someone else, it does not matter, this team is built for April thru September, false hope will keep the faithful, ricketts does not care about anybody else.

9. On a side note, great to see Wisdom in there AGAIN so he can go ofer with 2 more strikeouts, hitting a sweet .178 now, awesome

10. Your nuts Kap. I hope Bellinger stays. Top 3 best player on the Cubs. Maybe the best. Very low strike out rate. Best next to Nico. 3rd in average 2nd in RBI. Ill say it again. If the Cubs had a friggin closer. They would be in the playoffs. We had no 3B the whole year. Swanson needs to hit better. Suzuki has a good year but late. PCA horrible until last month. Happ good year but 166 strike outs wow. You better hit 40 HR with that many. Busch did great for a rookie. Cubs got hot to late

    At $27.5M for 2025 the risk of free agency is greater than the reward.
