2. Really hoping "The Jaguar" is 2025's PCA. Still irritates me about Castellanos, Schwarber, Harper & Turner… ALL should've been Cubs. ALL. And they could've easily afforded all of them.

   Ricketts gave Hoyer enough money. Jed failed by forgetting to strengthen the BP. Then when his closer went down he gave a lame excuse about teams not making deals in April/May which is BS since we saw the Padres grab a .350 hitter from Miami. Hoyer had 5 freaking months to grab a closer, he failed.

    1. Closer; the amount of games blown is ridiculous.

    2. Middle of the order Power bat. Cubs lack a legit all-star caliber bat.

    3. 8-9 hitters, PCA and Amaya grow the last two months of the season, however they buried the team those first few months. Rally killers

    4. Home field advantage. Cubs home record is slightly above 500. Wrigley Field and our great fans should be provide a huge boost and for some reason it doesn't. Earlier in the season losing streaks began at home and then were carried over to the road. Gotta play better at home.

15. Kap – It starts at the top. Tom Ricketts. He's ultimately in charge and responsible for the product that goes on the field. I watch your other ReKaps and you constantly rail on Jerry Reinsdorf for the embarrassment that is the Chicago White Sox. Well, its the same thing for the Cubs, obviously not as bad, but just as frustrating. Ricketts sets the budget, he employs Hoyer, he allows the roster to be what it is, and down the line. So my ranking in terms of accountability goes. 1. Ricketts, 2. Jed, 3. Counsell, 4. the Players. And for good measure, I'm also going to give some accountability to Carter Hawkins who seems like nothing more than a middle-management stooge. Take That!

21. #1 Hoyer – hardly any trades in offseason. He had plenty of money to spend and he spent in on Counsell instead of getting a closer. He continued dumpster diving right up to the end and continued to get trash. Only great move was Shota.
    #2 Counsell – He's supposed to be getting these guys to perform. Also, while Hoyer may put trash like Smyly on the roster, Counsell is still the one who puts him into close games.
    #3 Rickets – merely for not firing Hoyer
    #4 The physical trainer who can't condition these guys to play without constant injuries.
    #5 The players. I get that the mismanagement is demotivating, but those big paychecks should be plenty of motive. Apart from Hoerner, the big money guys seemed to put in less effort than the ones making league minimum.

    Not just the Cubs, but all of the teams should put these guys on highly performance based contracts.

29. I keep reading that the team needs a superstar. Angels had Trout and Ohtani and won nothing. I'm not the sort of person who is interested in assigning blame. For me this season became enjoyable after the trade for Paredes.
