  1. This whole postgame sequence was pretty hard to watch. A lot of folks who have been coming to games for many years coming to terms with knowing they’ll never be able to come back.

  2. I still can not fathom that tomorrow is the end of it all. Please Athletics win one last time, for the fans.

  3. I’m from Europe so maybe I don’t understand or whatever. But it’s so absurd to me that a whole sports team can up and move. It’s so incredibly unfair to the fans.

  4. Tonight’s post game show genuinely made me ugly cry. Some of my dad’s earliest memories are going to As games with his parents for his birthday. He got out some of his memorabilia from those games tonight and got choked up showing it to me. Some of my earliest memories are going to games with my parents, and going to my grandparents house after school where we would try to do our homework and constantly get distracted cause my grandma had put the As game on. Both of my grandparents passed when I was in my teens and one of the things that always makes me think of them is the sound of As baseball at the Coliseum. I think I’m genuinely in a period of mourning.
    Fuck John Fisher.

  5. Glad to see the grounds crew guys being bros, but this is still sad man.

It’s been said in this subreddit a million times already, but I’m a say it again, FUCK JOHN FISHER.

  6. All of the ushers and security guards working along the field would fill up anything you handed them. It was super cool of them.

  7. As I guy from Cleveland who remembers what happened on the last day of the Browns at Cleveland Municipal Stadium, this brought back some really shitty memories.

  8. This whole sequence is crushing, legit makes me weep for the fans. I faced the Sonics leaving and this feels so much worse because Seattle I knew had hope to get a team back that I think Oakland doesn’t get. Plus this is their last and final team they are losing which is so much worse.

  9. I have good memories of Oakland, my first MLB game was there and I actually got a ball tossed up from the right fielder. Still got that sitting in a case in my house.

  10. A’s fans don’t deserve this. Never should’ve gotten to this point. FJF forever.

I was at the last SuperSonics game in Seattle before carpetbagging owners moved the team to a smaller, shittier market. Walking away from the arena that night felt like a funeral. It’s been 16 years and I still can’t watch the NBA.

  11. I’ve been dreading this week on the calendar all year. Really the only team I’ve ever loved is dead to me after tomorrow barring a Christmas Miracle and I’m still not sure how to process it. All because of that doofus failson John Fisher wanting to stay on revenue sharing

Sure, the Ballers have been a great addition into my sports fandom but there’s gonna be a hole that’s impossible to fill there.

  12. I have some dirt from the warning track of Tiger Stadium. I was there about six weeks before it closed. At the end of the game I went down to the railing and leaned over and scooped some into one of those plastic 35mm film canisters.

Someone else wanted better dirt so he started climbing over the railing. A security guard rushed over and yelled at him to get back. “That’s thirty days in jail, a five hundred dollar fine, and a ass-whoopin’!”

  13. I know this sucks but fuck the owner. I watched red sox games against the a’s in this place when i was like 12, and the atmosphere through my TV was electric. its come to this? fuck money, fuck billionares, this just makes me sad.

  14. I’m guessing they’re saving it so that whenever Fisher dies, they can dump it on his grave, and gain some small sense of closure in knowing that they played some small role in personally burying the son of a bitch.

  15. I hate this for all A’s fans. No one deserves to have their team ripped away, much less major leagued and then ripped away. The big 4 sports have had too many teams move over the past 10 years.

I hope wankhead mcfuckface drops the ball on the Vegas move and embarrasses the league to the point where they force his ass to sell the team.

  16. If the fans riot tomorrow I honestly wouldn’t be mad. It *could* get ugly and Fisher deserves every bit of it.

  17. This resembles the Japanese tradition of the losing high school baseball team getting the sacred dirt from the Koshien Stadium, although this one is really depressing as the A’s lost their final home game at Oakland.

  18. I thought it was tough when Candlestick Park ended because of its history, but for Oakland, it’s the last professional sports team to leave.

  19. All the while, Fisher had the gall to whine last year about how difficult the relocation of the Athletics has been for *him*.

    FJF now, forever and always.

  20. Fuck you Fisher, for destroying, or trying to destroy a storied baseball franchise. Every single person at that stadium after the game was a bigger fan of the game than Fisher ever could be. Dude can gfhs

  21. That guy with the shovel did more good for Oakland A’s fans in that clip than John Fisher did in 20 years.
