  1. Went to the very first hockey game at the Palladium (at the time) and coming from Orléans at the time, it was insanely far. I live too far now (BC) but very happy it is closer than ever. Go Sens.. 🏒🏒🇨🇦

  2. Great news overall but I heard there'd only be around 15000 seats?

I know ottawa doesn't sell out every game but that seems like a road to very expensive tickets, given that the average attendance last year was 17500 and it was a bad team that was located 30 mins outside of downtown with traffic.
(This might not be true at all, if so my comment is irrelevant)
Ottawa is a big hockey city… it would be a mistake to not have at the very least 17.5k seats

  3. I live in Ottawa, and close to the current arena. Even though it would be a longer trip for me to the new arena, I think having a new arena and more importantly a hockey “district”, would be a huge win for this city. Hotels, with places to eat, some entertainment and a hockey game all in the same place is a good thing.

What is critical to this being successful though is to get the LRT running properly. LRT has been a complete joke and fumble of a project. There is currently 0 trust in city run transit. If they can fix that, the new arena has a really good chance of being successful.
