Marwin Gonzalez officially retires from baseball following two years in Japan.

Farewell to one of the greats who launched the golden era of Astros baseball. We can debate what his most memorable moments were, but two near the top are his World Series Game 2 homer and him showing off the cannon in the ALCS vs the Yankees. So long Marwin! Thanks for the memories, and enjoy retirement!

  1. I wish Marwin the best ! He was an integral part of the 2017 WS team. I’ve always known him to be a good man and excellent player. We need more players like Marwin.

  2. Breaking up Darvish’s perfect game after 26 outs is up there for me, as well. An Astros legend.

  3. Great memories of watching Marwin play. He could play any position. Great hitter, right when we needed them.

  4. I’ll always get a chuckle thinking about Marwin getting pissed at umpires for strike calls that he thought were out of the zone but weren’t. Wrong so often and totally outraged every time. 🤣

  5. I went to a playoff game last year in Japan and watched him hit a double. Made me so happy to see. Always a legend in our hearts!

  6. Watching the linked videos I’m reminded of how much I miss Carlos Correa. Altuve, Correa, Springer, and Bergman are the core players from that team that launched this current run.
