What happened to summer? It feels like it was just June😰
To me the pen is the major problem
My words like yours
When you have the lead, close it out
Kyle has also been unlucky
Bloops, seeing eye grounded for hits
Perhaps Suzuki’s full offensive potential may not have come to fruition and I think it’s attributed to the guys in the line up around him. They rarely put Suzuki in a position to truly reach his full offensive potential. He is easily the the best hitter on this current roster. Now defensively, there’s certainly more to be desired, but overall I think he’s an been invaluable asset to this current team.
Maybe the problem with the bullpen is the pitching coach. How do these guys go to other teams and succeed? Just imagine if they had not given away more than twenty games. Even just saving half of those would have them in a battle for the division. I’m tired of hearing how great Tommy is. If he was that good, we would have made the playoffs last year and this year. Any thoughts on Hendricks taking it over.
Anything below
He instantly becomes the player with the highest BB% in the entire league! I would even bet money that it would give him the highest OBP instantly. Now, that should, SHOULD correlate to a very high OPS, and give him more balls to drive. BUT!! That’s an evolution that needs to begin next season. Because the better, more accurate strike
Zone leads to more walks, and ultimately better pitches to swing at and drive. That’s not INSTANT! Because there has to be an element of aggression in that.
OH!! And have Jake Arrieta introduce him to Pilates!! He’s strong. Make him a little bit more flexible!
Can….or COULD the Yankees and Cubs do a sign and trade with Soto and Bellinger+.
Like league rules-wise? Is it possible?
I tired of excuses. People around other players. .. we have no money. We messed up and went over the higher tax bracket by 900k. The wind blows in , I hurt my ribs on ivey, 😢😢. We picked up shitty dfa d players. We over paid a manager, I have a blister, my arm .. my slider doesn't slide, my curve doesn't curve. No body speaks Latin, no body speaks Japanese, no body speaks English. You made the team . Phillies do not have problems or drama like the cubs. You fix this , by cutting the head off the serpent– jed ….
Thanks for the show Sam! LET'S GO CUBS!!! ⚾️ ✌️💙🐻
I havent seen a player this year get worse umpire decisions on balls that were called strikes than Suzuki
This team hasn’t been clutch. I’m not sure how they can make themselves better in that regard but it applies to the relievers as well as the hitters. Blown saves and unproductive at bats with RISP are the Cubs’ formula for failure. That needs to change.
The cubs are a team full of good players not GREAT players. They need a large change. They will keep trying to fine tune the C-class players they got for value.
This was Sam's best "discussion with YOU" of the season.
Here's everyone's slash line with RISP. Most guys on this team don't produce during clutch moments
Amaya-. 200/.299/.310/.609
Busch- .226/.326/.320/.656
Hoerner- .250/.318/.371/.689
Swanson- .246/.295/.444/.739
Parades- .255/.357/.394/.751
Happ- .243/.360/.522/.882
Bellinger- .328/.405/.516/.921
Suzuki- .256/.365/.380/.745
PCA- .292/.359/.494/.853
And just for fun here is a few non Cubs players playing in the playoffs this season slash with risp.
Soto- .342/.463/.675/1.138
Adames- .292/.414/.663/1.077
Witt jr.- .383/.466/.711/.1.177
Marte- .333/.422/.649/1.071
JRam- .324/.395/.577/.972
Machado- .310/.362/.551/.913
Excellent work with this. Cheers to a sweep! #everydayer
Great solo show.
Matt and Sam have both developed their broadcasting skills in 2024 way beyond expectations—the Cubs can learn something from their commitment to their craft.
Jeremiah estrada and Hunter Bigge could have helped the bullpen, DJ Herz could have been a guy who gets out lefties. They are developing some guys but need to give some of these guys a chance or come up with a better model that show who can get guys out at the MLB level
