  1. I always love when they pull the pitcher mid inning for guys leaving, it gives the crown a chance to really thank him

  2. This is really nice, not sure about the choice of playing sweet emotion in the background though? Let the crowd take it away without music imo

  3. An alum from my high school. Graduated a year before me. Will never forget the World Series run. Thanks Professor.

  4. I haven’t watched the Cubs in years but Kyle was my first favorite pitcher. I hope he finds a way to keep playing because he is a treat to watch. Much love, Professor 😭🫶

  5. So he’s gonna retire right? No way he pitches for any one else.

First ballot hall of very good

  6. As tough as he’s been to watch this season, there’s no getting around the fact that he’ll go down as one of the best Cubs starting pitchers of all time.

  7. I’m glad he got to go out on a great performance. The last 2016 Cub. Had a real tough year, which was a shame. But in this way, he will be remembered for what he was. When he was on, he could pitch some of the most beautiful games you’d ever seen. His performance in the NLCS will never be forgotten He was awesome, and I’ll forever remember him as one of my favorite Cubs pitchers of all time. A true Cubs legend.

  8. I got to take my Dad to NLCS Game 2 in 2016. Hendrix vs Kershaw.

I will never, ever forget it. Thank you, Kyle for all you did for us fans.

  9. Kyle was always the reserved, epitome of class the way he conducted himself on the mound and in the locker room. He’s the last of the 2016 World Series champs to go if this is his last run as a Cub, so it’s perfect to see the emotions of all involved and for it to end on a high note. For the Professor (pt.2), cheers.

  10. At his best, you had a sense of peace and comfort when he was on the mound in stressful games. Hats off to the Prof!

  11. I just got out of this game. Prof. pitched his ass off and made for what is probably a (great) send off game.

  12. Kyle is surely, unironically, the most beloved Cub of the last 20 years at least right?

I know he’s mine. If this is it for him I am gonna miss him real bad. The man is a stone faced legend.

  13. Hubby heard me listening to the game on my phone and he asked if I wanted to watch on TV (blacked out and refuse to pay for Marquee). I just started crying. Thanks Cyle for such good memories. Forever a Cub 💙

  14. This one hurts. Best of luck to The Professor.
On the bright side, this is the last 2016 hurt. They’re all gone.

  15. My favorite Cubs pitcher. Got to see his 81-pitch Maddux. Really hope he becomes a pitching coach. Thanks for the memories Professor 💙

  16. I’m so glad that Hendricks was able to pitch his way out being released, and it’s great that his last start was a vintage performance. It was looking like a 2021 Arrieta situation in the spring, and I am very grateful that it didn’t end that way.

  17. Few more deserving of love from Cubs fans, and baseball fans in general. Kyle was a class act every single day of his long career. Never a scandal, never a bad word said about anyone…nor a bad word said about him by anyone that I can recall.
