[Pursiainen] The New York Knicks are receiving and taking calls on center Mitchell Robinson, their longest tenured player. Sources familiar with the situation say the likelihood of a deal is unknown but the team seems to be willing to make another move after the blockbuster add of Karl Towns.

  1. Was thinking about this today. I know dude is injury prone, but he’d be a legit starter if he’s healthy. And he went to high school in Chalmette, so he may be cool to come back.

  2. According to google, Mitchell Robinson makes 14 million a year

I don’t know how the 2nd apron thing work but from the matching salary perspective, I don’t know who we should trade

I ain’t trading Herb for nothing. BI is making 36 million and not sure if New York wants him

  3. This is interesting. I get that since KAT will likely play center that Mitchell Robinson becomes expensive to keep as a backup but I am still surprised they’re looking to move him given their lack of other options at the center position.

Despite his injury history I think it would be worth it to take a chance on Robinson, for a reasonable price. Of course he likely won’t be ready to play until about halfway through the season so this trade wouldn’t help us immediately

He is significantly taller and better at rebounding than anyone on our roster currently so I see the appeal

  4. I said this on another thread, but I’ll say it again: As a Knicks fan, the Pels probably don’t want Robinson. No hate – I love the guy; he’s a lockdown defender and an amazing OReb guy. But he will clog the paint more than Jonas – and more important than that, he is extremely injury prone at this point. I think the old highlights you’d see of him catching those lobs is a thing of the past, unfortunately – I hope I’m wrong.

Don’t get me wrong: I want the Pels to find a center ASAP, and if he has to move on from the Knicks (literal last one of our original core from a few years ago now), I’d much rather it be to the Pels, whom I truly love. And he’s a good player either way; it would definitely be fun to see him & Herb just smother offenses. Also I know he’s a Lousiana guy and all – but I just don’t think for 14mil a year Mitch is the answer.
