  1. interesting, not sure im in love with it would rather have an established name given our player development infrastructure seems sub par

  2. Farhan is gone, wow.

I’m also surprised Buster is doing this. You’d have to think this takes a lot of time away from his family. But maybe it scratches an itch that hasn’t gone away.

Buster is as close to 100% beloved in ANY sports city, so not gonna lie, this is a risk to that reputation for such an unforgiving job. Not saying he won’t succeed, but definitely feels like a pretty unprecedented move–at least for the San Francisco Giants we know.

  3. Wow….. this is very interesting. Poseys a part of ownership, what happens if this doesn’t go well?

  4. Whoa. Big time move by Posey. Fingers crossed that he is as good as I think he can be. Would be amazing for him to be a legendary player and then a legendary exec

  5. Fellow fan of an orange-and-black team by a bay where the folks like to eat crabs here, who’s also kind of followed the Giants since the Bonds-Kent-Aurilia-Santiago-Estes days.

Does this mean Posey is basically the new GM and head baseball decision-maker? Or will he be more of a administrative type? It’ll be interesting one way or another. I feel like being a GM and being a Hall of Fame player are different skill sets.

  6. I love Buster. I really want him to succeed because it would be so painful to see the fan base turn against him. As a Kings fan, I saw that happen with Vlade Divac.

  7. Posey gives us the biggest thing farhan couldn’t. The ability to relate to players. We are finally going to land a big fish. I can feel it.

  8. As a side note, I know someone who worked at ucsf and they said Buster (and his wife) are salt of the earth. He was in there visiting those kids all the time. Often without fanfare or press, he just cared. Visiting kids sick or dying of cancer is not easy. He did it for years, and he continues to do so to this day. Dude is just a good man, and we are lucky to be in his orbit. For bless BP 28!
