4 Defenders that must play well for us to take down PIT Sunday night.

Mazi Smith and Linval Joseph have to get off blocks and make it difficult for Najee Harris to get to the second level. DeMarvion needs to spy Fields and get 6-9 total tackles and a couple TFLs to really make a gamebreaking impact. If Carson can't go, we need Amani Oruwariye to defend the receiver opposite of Pickens well. Regardless of if its Austin, or otherwise. If we get that, our defense should have a good chance to hold Pittsburgh to 20 or less. What do you guys think? Anyone I missed?

  1. I’m honestly fine with Booth starting at CB2 if Carson can’t go. And that’s purely based on his tackling ability vs his coverage consistency and instincts defending the pass against PIT.

They’re not a vertical-dependent offense, but they are well-schemed to make things work with Fields underneath. Defense needs to prioritize keeping plays in front of them and wrap up on tackles. Let Fields earn his medium/deep completions with accuracy along the sideline or in tight windows over the middle.

He’s playing well, but his inconsistency as a passer and pocket presence show up when his first options are covered. if we can contain chunk YAC plays after contact with better tackling from the initial defender, especially early in the game, we should be fine
