Adam Fantilli should develop into a superstar getting over 100 points a season. Kent Johnson should develop into a star as well.
RIP Johnny hockey❤️🕊️
NHL already made the allowance that they don't need to reach the cap floor
I just had a morbid thought.
Five years down the road, looking back, it's gonna be a travesty if Don Waddell has turned this team into a perennial contender in the next five years, because Johnny doesn't get to play a single game under this regime. If the Jackets win a Cup before his contract would end, his name HAS to be engraved on it. It just has to.
I will not be fielding questions on this subject.
And a sidebar, given that Adam's voice is shot, I'll be guessing this was recorded before the NHL gave Columbus extra time to get to the cap floor.
Solid breakdown I would say – lack of high-end talent that should hopefully come from developing their own stars.
Of note, word out of camp is that Denton Mateychuk and Kent Johnson are lighting it UP this year!
If the Jackets are hanging in there towards US thanksgiving , I could see Waddell pulling off something.
Elvis reminds me of King Richard back in the day. Richard Brodeur would win 20 out of 60 games for Vancouver in the early 1980s and be mediocre statistically, and yet be clearly the best option that the Canucks had in net for years.
I think the team will show solid growth, they will shave about 1/2 a goal per game off their average last season, finishing with 80-82 points on the season—and still probably end up last in the division and 5th from the bottom in the league standings.
If they get a bunch of things break their way, they could easily be in the mix up till the trade deadline; but given an average number of ups and downs throughout the season, I think the ceiling is 80-82 points.
columbus will continue to be a game on the schedule for eons to come.
