[Jones] Russell Westbrook on Nuggets is the ultimate chemistry experiment. Will it work?

i haven’t had much good to say about the Athletic’s coverage of our team, but this piece from Tony Jones is a fantastic primer for the upcoming season. Non-paywalled link here: https://archive.ph/5MbSC
I was expecting trash because articles about Westbrook on the Nuggets usually are, but this is actually pretty good. It doesn’t presume it won’t work, but instead talks about the vision where it could work (that actually sounds informed — not some rando trying to pencil in Westbrook as a starter, but looking at how he can fit mostly on the bench with occasional stagger minutes with starters), and leaves room for the possibility that it could go well or go poorly.
I love Russ and I love him as Nug. He doesn’t fit most teams, but imo he is exactly what the Nuggets need as a 6th man.
Imo it’s all about how the young guns show out. Russ will be better than Big Gov running 2nd squad.
Focus on defense for now. You will love Russ when he alters Luka and Antman on offense. They always have to scheme and force switches when Russ is on them. It’s a big value so Nuggets can scheme for it
Yes because someone will now run the 2nd unit at least.
