  1. Tony came up big for Cleveland in game one of the series in a season that would see the Tribe reach the World Series. The five time all-star spent three seasons with Cleveland during his 18 year major league career.

  2. I feel extremely spoiled to have come of age just as cleveland became a relevant baseball town again. I can’t imagine how heartbreaking it would be to wait nearly 50 years for even a playoff victory. These teams have been super fun to watch and support.

  3. I was at this game!! Same game Belle tied it in the 11th and pointed to his bicep 💪🏿 in the dugout. Red Sox may have checked his bat after his homer. Memory is hazy after 29 years. Still rank it in my top 3-5 games I have ever attended in any sport.

I had 20 game season tickets in 1995. It was fun!!

  4. Still one of the greatest Costas calls in broadcast history, in my opinion.

“Oh man! Oh man! Tony Pena! On 3 and 0! Sends everybody home! Tony Pena spells ‘Goodnight’!”

    And that batflip? Beautiful

  5. 20yr old me went to bed. Had an early alarm set. Woke up at some point in the night, turned the TV on to see if we won just as Pena is up to bat. Such a great sports memory.

  6. My sophomore year at Ohio University. Campus was electric that autumn. Game 6 was played on the night of the street party, so we had that party to console ourselves.

  7. I think this is still one of the top five playoff games in Indians/Guardians history!
