  1. No 40/40? No problem. José Ramírez only cares about one thing: bringing a championship to Cleveland. Let’s go!

    From the story:

“The [playoffs start Saturday for the Guardians](https://www.cleveland.com/guardians/2024/10/mlb-announces-start-times-for-guardians-in-alds-games-1-and-2-broadcast-details.html) and that is all José Ramírez wants to talk about.

Forget about the pursuit of a 40/40 season and his disappointment over not getting one last chance to complete the chase after [a rainout canceled Sunday’s season finale](https://www.cleveland.com/guardians/2024/09/guardians-game-canceled-as-rain-washes-out-season-finale-against-houston.html). For his part, Ramírez has already moved on.

“I completely forgot about it, to be honest,” Ramírez told reporters Wednesday via Guardians interpreter Agustin Rivero. “My focus right now is on the playoffs and trying to find ways to help these guys win. To be honest, I had forgotten about Sunday already. The focus is on the playoffs right now.”

Ramírez also will not dwell on the [3-4 potential home run balls he hit during the season](https://www.cleveland.com/guardians/2024/09/3-defensive-gems-that-could-end-up-denying-jose-ramirez-entry-to-the-4040-club.html) that were robbed by outstanding defensive plays from outfielders such as JJ Bleday, Wilyer Abreu and Jo Adell. Any one of those moments could have put him in the 40/40 club come late September if they had gone his way earlier in the year. Friends and ex-teammates reached out on Sunday to remind him of what could have been.

But Ramírez says he is looking forward, not back.

“I don’t like that stuff,” Ramírez said. “I just live in the present and in the moment. I don’t like to waste time thinking about that stuff.”

  2. The dudes getting a statue. If he wins us a World Series, let’s replace the bridge Guardians with Jose Guardians

  3. If we were once the Cleveland Naps, I don’t see any reason why we can’t be the Cleveland Joseys

  4. A lot of players say things about moving past what could have been. Jose though has proven he just moves on many times over now.

He wants to win. Everyday, every game, every AB, everything. When we’re struggling, he tries to find ways to energize the team.

He’s quite honestly one of the best I’ve watched in all my years. He’s the perfect leader for our young squad, as Kwan explained so well in his article. He’s a true professional and competitor. He’s Lazer focused when it’s time and goofy AF when appropriate. I want so badly to see him raise the trophy for Cleveland.
