I know he had great stats last season, but this year, he’s shown that he is exponentially progressing. Take away the Vikings game, lol. I also haven’t seen people mention Brock bulking up in the off-season, which is probably why he’s throwing bombs to 15 and Deebo. He’s shifting from a system QB to having the system around the QB. This is their year to lose it again. He has enough weapons to win a Superbowl, but now it’s up to the O-line and the D.
Yards per attempt is one thing and the knuckle dragging haters can and do still point to the fact that he can throw a short pass and benefit from the YAC of his admittedly great receiving corps but what REALLY breaks their stupid ass narrative is that Brock’s leading the league in AIR yards per attempt by a large margin as well according to the advanced stats here: https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/advanced-stats-qb.php
So while he does benefit from some YACs the bulk of the passes are still based on well placed throws and by these rankings if HE’S a check down merchant then so is everyone else.
Is this good though? We haven’t had a good O-line either year and each year Purdys time in the pocket increases. So far this year Purdy has the most time in the pocket. It takes time for guys to get down field.
We keep complaining about or line but we have the playing style of a team with a great O-line. At some point we need to help the line out and get the ball out faster. Ball getting out faster will help minimize Purdys hits and reduce the chance of injury
They will still say it’s the system and the weapons though. No new stat will suddenly change that.
