The 'do you really feel like you have to earn your spot' question was silly. Even if you are incumbent, you are always competing for a spot on the PP and trying to move higher up in the lineup. Even guys like Nylander and Tavares have to show they deserve their ice time.
Coaches will reduce ice time for, or even bench, star players if they don't think they're playing well or competing hard enough.
