Everything looks worse in slow motion. Look at the alternate angle the stick is not even touching the skate. Until the NHL adds better and more cameras we should stop this blind speculation.
Now, stay with me for this… Missles cant go faster than a certain speed because they would literally burn up and explode in the air.
Players are working on and have done great strides in getting faster, shooting harder, turning quicker, pushing the limits, but there doesnt appear to be much focus on longevity when pushing those limits.
Players should be more aware of their limits. If a stick tap to the pads causes you to fall, either train so it doesnt when youre at those speeds, or train to protect yourself when you do fall.
This stuff is same reason McDavid doesn’t fly at the net as much as he did when he was younger because people try and take your feet out like dirty rats.
Make it a fine and 5 mins major to trip someone when they're skating at speed.
I like how he introduces it as something we all can agree on, then nobody agrees on it
It’s tripping…this isn’t complicated. He’s trying to prevent a goal.
Utah yetis
AND with gloves on?! Oh man Tom Wilson should get 40 games for this.
Stenlund didn’t touch him.
Stupidest take ever smh
Earlier in McDavid's career … Manning on McDavid perhaps to a lesser extend BUT Giordano on McDavid ABSOLUTELY. Took out his feet to try and stop him. Not sure there was a penalty on either play. Same old same old.
The problem is that the NHL doesn't use refereeing to enforce the rules they use refereeing to enhance the perceived entertainment of their product. The logical conclusion of which would be pro-wrestling. It's not quite there yet but it's heading in that direction.
As an SDP fan and Sharks fan, I'm just happy when they talk about us for more than 1 or 2 sentences saying "they bad"
These people are projecting their level of play onto Stenlund, just because his stick taps his thigh doesn't mean he drops it in the guys skates he's clearly trying to trip him up
How anyone actually thinks this is a “dirty” play is hopeless, which makes perfect sense why Adam is all over this trash take
ADAMS RIGHT 90% OF TIME ON THIS SHOW. MY OPINION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM BEING AN UNDERCOVER CANUCKS FAN
So for me its not a grey area if the player is hurt on the play. For example if a player gets this done to him and either gets up on his own power or goes to the quiet room and returns no suspension just a penalty BUT if this happens and he's unable to leave the ice under his own power (IE stretcher or players/staff have to help him) and he's hurt and doesnt return automatically game misconduct with the possibility of suspension of at least 2 games depending on the severity of the injury. For example if its a 2 week injury 1 game if its a 1-2 months injury 2 games. If its 3 or more months 3 games if its career ending 5 games or the max suspension allowed for injuring a player. I know people talk about intent but intent should not matter if the player is hurt. Im not sure what the rule is for suspension and injuring players but i think gambling suspensions are stricter than injury ones which is ridiculous imo when the NHL pushes gambling at us every commercial break. I remember being a kid and it was alcohol being pushed at us constantly. Nowadays the new "non hockey thing to advertise" is gambling which doesnt affect the kids (allegedly) because they're not old enough.
Kreider getting tripped ruined prices career… VERY similar situation
Yeah as a defenseman, i can't rock with this. Tapping skates is enough to break traction, and when the weight is off that foot, hes going over in this very dangerous position.
Maybe update the tripping rule so that if the tripped player is clearly between the offending player and the goal and is tripped from behind, it's a 4-min double minor instead of a normal 2-min minor? "Tripping from behind" vs "Tripping" maybe… then again the refs didn't call this a tripping penalty at all so I guess that suggestion is moot 🤷♂
They don't want to call penalties because they don't want special teams to be that much of a deciding factor in games.
My only comment on this one is that we shouldn't be judging plays based on still frames. Give us the actual video, including multiple looks in real time. I always think too much focus is put on watching the play in slow-mo even though it happened at full speed including the player's thought process.
