Record breaking heat this Sunday. Who remembers the last hottest game, Oct 5th v. the Chiefs?

Temperature reached a high of 89° as Alex Smith and Travis Kelce nearly defeated Harbaugh’s 2014 49ers in the hottest football game I’ve ever attended. The stands were mostly empty until maybe the 4th quarter because everyone was taking shelter in the concourse. It nearly felt like an away game with how few fans were in their seats and Chiefs fans were roughing out the temps. It was the first time I thought WTF they were thinking with the stadium design.

With Sunday’s temps expected to exceed that day’s, do the 49ers come out with the win against Arizona? I’m expecting a close game.

  1. Right? It feels like the heat gives a small advantage to Arizona since they’re a bit more used to high temps.

  2. I was gonna say “it doesn’t look that bad” because I assumed it was the 90s.

But yeah, we’re all gonna die. I hope we get six before the world burns.

  3. I was lucky to get invited to go with friends last weekend. Checked the weather and it said 79 in SC. Sat in the north endzone and GOT COOKED. Sunburned on any exposed skin after putting on sunscreen. Please please please wear sunscreen and hydrate!!

    bang bang

  4. I was there too. It was absolutely brutal. Later that day we were treated with 18 innings of NLDS baseball by the giants. I still remember the cheering echos in the city when it finally ended because every damn house had their windows open trying to cool off.

  5. September 10, 2017. Game 1 of the season vs the Panthers. It was about 95 in Santa Clara that day. All I gotta say is, if you’re going to the game, DRINK WATER!!

  6. I was there. I flew all the way from Australia, it was the only game I’ve seen at Levi’s.

I thought it was hot but didn’t realise it was the hottest ever. I remember thinking, “Who designed this brand new Stadium with such little shade?”

  7. I remember this game and it’s responsible for my, “no day games in Santa Clara before Thanksgiving” rule.

It’s a good rule if you don’t like being hot.
