  1. This is why jurys deadlock. People can see the same thing and come to completely different conclusions.

Bare may not have had the intent to injure but he definitely stuck out his knee at the last second to impede progress of Laine. That much is obvious in the replays provided here. Doing as much is just plain effin stupid.
You're just inviting an injury to occur doing so. To even dispute as much just goes to show how little some hockey fans know contrary to what they would like to believe.

  2. When did so many ten year Olds start commenting here? Someone got injured. It happens in every game. Grow up. Calling for other players to be intentionally injured is juvenile thinking by a group of adults acting like kids. SMH

  3. Itโ€™s a good distraction for perpetual cellar dwellers! ๐Ÿ˜… who does laine think he is bobby orr? Trying to squeeze in between 2 defendersโ€ฆyouโ€™re gonna get crunched! Keep your head up and youโ€™ll be fine

  4. Not intentional and definitively unlucky, but in the context of the game, it was obvious the Leafs were playing the barely legal physical game, which is fine and normal even if a bit much for a preseason game. Coach's message? Idk.

It looks to me like Parรฉ wanted to hit no matter what and the only way he could make up for having zero speed was to shift his body weight to the forward leg into an incoming player, which is dangerous not matter how you cut it. He could have just as well destroyed his knee there.

Laine's awkward "A" framed skating style definitively makes this an instant injury, so he is responsible for trying to cut in-between. He saw the highlight in his mind and ironically, he got clip'd hard.

That being said, Parรฉ is the reason why this hit happened, either because he wanted to impress with his physical game or the game was just too fast for him and he wanted to stop him there so he does not get embarrassed, after all, it was his shot at making the big show.

Either way, Parรฉ just proved that he was quite literally, out of his league.

Hockey players are basically a product now, this kind of opened ice hits should never happens and even less in a preseason game. Gotta protect the players that draws the $$$.

  5. Haha!! Honestly, did ANYONE with eyes actually see the way Laine tried coming in to the offensive zone! If he had his legs spread apart any further he'd have been dragging his balls on the ice. GET THE F**K OUTTA HERE!!! He did it to himself and he's the only one to blame!!
