It makes no difference, LTIR doesn’t count against the cap either, this is basically just them saying he isn’t coming back so why bother.

I don’t like the knights trust me but it’s the same as ltir. No special treatment happening
It’s fair to complain about every single team getting some kind of cap relief as long as Richards contract still is on the Kings book.
