  1. At the risk of trying to seem too analytical (Orioles fan for life by the way, been one for all my 39 years), the first thing I thought of when I really thought about how it went down was that point in Moneyball when they have a "radio" personality talking about how the Moneyball stuff works during the regular season, but the playoffs are a different beast. And I can't help but feel like this was an example of how that's true. Cause my first instinct was to blame co-hitting coaches Matt Borgschulte and Ryan Fuller, but when you look at a season of numbers, Santander had 44 homers and over 100+ steaks, Gunnar had like 37 homers, like we have a legit ROY candidate in Colton Cowser who had 24 of his own this season. And for the pitching staff that you said is really just Corbin Burnes, do remember that Zach Eflin, castoff from the Phillies and Rays, was pitching 1 run ball until Manager Brandon Hyde took him out by the 5th inning. The Fifth..

My next instinct would be that you have to get veterans to replace key holes in your lineup, but I'm pretty sure Mike Elias thought that's what he was doing by getting Craig Kimbrel, a pitcher with an incredible playoff record, and why they kept him for so long when he faltered, cause I'm sure Elias was just like "We get him to the playoffs he'll be money", and then he ultimately couldn't even make it there. The Collapse of this team lives in equally baffling trade deadline pickups like Eloy Jiminez and Trevor Rogers, when the fanbase was hoping for Tarik Skubal, who, by the way is having himself a year. The Orioles may have new Ownership, but it remains to be seen if Rubenstein will open up the checkbook, and all I can do as a fan is wait to see what Mike Elias learned from this Season, because I'm staring down the barrel of Anthony Santander and Corbin Burnes both walking, hoping a promising but unproven Heston Kjerstad can fill that gap, and wondering what the true tradeoff is for changing hitting approach, because looking at our homers, it was clear launch angle was key for the Orioles, the only team that I believe beat us in the Home Runs Category was the Yankees, but when that's how your money is made, in a wild card series, where getting enough combined hits can be what it takes to win and move on, it takes incredible hitters to be able to step out of what they've been doing all season and make a different approach work. Everyone was tryhing for home runs, and we got one..Just one, meanwhile, Royals are playing classic playoff baseball–get on base, steal one if you can, move em over, get em in, and they still only got 3 total runs in 2 games, but it was more than they gave up. So I think it's hard to figure out what to do next. Cause I've been an oriole fan long enough to know that playing that way all year so you can do it in the postseason is not a way to win the AL East.

Sorry for the book, I just had a lot to share ><. Great video all the same <3.

  2. @iTalkStudios Bruh, why would you include mentioning that highlight reel? It has nothing to do with ur video. U even acknowledged it wasn't related to anyone on the team

  3. I think this helps to show how weak the AL was this season. No team felt like they were the juggernaut or world series favorite, every one of the playoff teams are extremely flawed but somehow made it through

  4. As a baltimore fan, Ill tell you why. Its our manager, Hes just like harbough, Good, but not damn good enough to do good in the playoffs. The post all star break was something Brandon High shouldve figured out but he didnt

  5. 2023 Orioles reminded me a lot of the 2015 Cubs. A ton of home grown talent, a new ownership finally, so many similarities. I totally expected them to be in the World Series the next year. Happened for the Cubs, but not for the poor O's.

  6. You're right – around the all-star game, I sensed they started to believe their own hype and they lost their underdog mojo. Gunnar and Adley were doing a lot of funny side videos. Guys were jogging in the outfield, sloppy infield errors, lazy at-bats, etc. Something is missing on this team still. Might need a change of manager and culture. Something has to shift.

  7. As an O's fan I put it on the coaching. It was made very clear by the all star break and onward the Team's reliance on the long ball and incapability to hit or even just advance RISP.

Instead of address the hitting philosophy we just would slightly change up the lineup order, rely on guys who hadn't been on the team before hand to give a boost (till they started doing the same as the others), and put our heads down to keep hitting homeruns or lose.

Hyde is coming back which is fine but the hitting coaches should not (btw I still put part of this on Hyde since he has final say on whatever the hitting coaches do help our hitters with).

  8. The O’s problem is with their manager and their hitting coaches. The announcers constantly mentioned how it’s unusual that the O’s kept Brandon Hyde as their manager. They went from being able to come back from anything to not being able to come back from anything. It’s been announced that Hyde is going to be their manager next season and no hitting coaches have been fired, so expect the O’s to get swept in the playoffs again next season if those remain the same.

Also, what do you mean their starting rotation wasn’t good? According to stats, they had the best starting rotation in the second half of the season. Sure, Burnes has been good most of the season like you stated, but Eflin has been great, Suárez was solid, Kremer was great, and Povich was lights out in his final few outings.

Also, the problem with Adley was that he got hit by a pitch in his wrist while he was up to bat and he also got hit by a bat while he was catching. He also gained weight. His slump started immediately after those things happened.

With the change in ownership, the O’s could finally spend, so I think that they could resign Burnes to a contract that he wants. I think they let Santander walk because of how his month by month average is and how he really only hits in the summer.

  9. It would be more like Major League, if Tom berrenger and co lose to the Yankees in the alds or cs i dont remember what it was in the movie

  10. Right now Orioles team is honestly overrated right now but there's still hope for this team if the Owner starts to care more about the franchise.

  11. The year was a mess. We lost our #2-5 starters this season, didn't have our closer all year. Kimbrel was a disaster. Adley regressed probably due to playing injured. Hyde focused more on analytics instead of situational hitting. We lost 2 positional players for a month or longer. Mayo wasn't ready for the show, nor was Holliday. Cowser, Gunner, Ohearn, and Mountcastle were very bad in the 2nd half.

  12. I hated this Wild Card Series, not just because I’m an Orioles fan and they disappointed me again, but because of the lack of offense. This may go down as the most boring, least exciting, action packed Wild Card Series in recent years.

  13. I watched the O's last year and this year after the trade deadline. Its so obvious that they just aren't built for the playoffs. Hopefully the new owner can rectify this with some good signings in the offseason.

  14. Thank you for the videos iTalk (Isaac). I love them keep it up. I missed the past 3 days because of a holiday but I'm about to go through everything I missed. Thanks so much man just keep going at it ⚾🔥.

  15. italk Studios Let me start by saying that I agree with some of what you said in this video, but clearly you did not do your research, and shame on you. Burnes was not the only quality starter the O’s had. How about Eflin, the guy they picked up at the trade deadline, and who the team will still have in 2025, for most of his starts, he was lights out. And Suerezz (I know, I probably misspelled his name), did you even ask yourself why he is in the starting rotation to begin with? INJURIES, you only mentioned a couple of them, let me give you the complete list- Bradish, Wells, Means, Rodriguez. And that is just the starters, on the IL from the bullpen were Coulume, Webb, Akin. I probably left off a couple, I lost track after a while. And now to the position players. Along with losing the All-Star Westburg for a long stint on the IL was: Mountcastle, for at least 6 weeks (the main reason he only hit 1 HR in the 2nd half dummy), Urias (who was leading the offense for a couple of weeks back in August), Mateo (again, playing his best baseball when he had his season ending injury), and Kjerstad. Yes, every team gets injuries, but injuries absolutely destroyed the Orioles in 2024, especially during the 2nd half. Yes, losing to KC was a huge disappointment, but you left out of your video. Do your homework next time buddy.

  16. Can you imagine what that pitcher is thinking when Judge walks onto the infield grass a little after getting hit? Judge is normally very calm and collected. Might shoot a look, but he just trots to first. Having that guy take a couple steps like he's thinking of charging the mound must have been terrifying.
