[PuckPedia] By making trade, #Canucks no longer need to use LTIR. They effectively took $900K Brannstrom + $500K retained on Poolman vs potentially Poolman on LTIR, but now are under cap & can accrue space. They have $1.19M Proj Space with 23 active (12F/8D/3G)

Great management team we got here… so refreshing after the dark ages ran by 3 or 4 ppl
I think that means we will have around 3m or a bit more in cap space by the deadline if we keep accruing that amount until then
Will actually be just over 2m once everyone returns from injury and appropriate bodies are moved around. Should be closer to 6-7m come deadline
If only we could do what Vegas did and just remove Poolman from the cap without having to give up a 4th… but I guess not everyone gets to be the Golden Boys.
Went from a bottom 10 team in cap hell to a contender with a solid roster and cap space to accrue, what a turnaround. And all this with the salary cap barely going up the last 3 years.
If we retain 500k and then AVs put him on ltir will the 500k come off our cap?
Chef Allvin at it again. Never knew he could make such good Sunday brunch
Another thing about this trade is we would have had to waive one of Friedman/Juulsen or Aman to get under the cap and not use LTIR, and wouldn’t have been able to have 2-3 spare players to start the season. I think there’s a greater than 50% chance that any of those 3 would have been claimed to get under the cap, so instead of losing depth to get under the cap, we’ve actually created more depth with Brannstrom and will likely accrue even more cap space.
There’s layers to this trade, and it’s hard to not call it a clear W for only the price of a 4th.
There are now scenarios where we can take on a sizeable cap hit in a player and that team would need to add a piece for us taking on money.
Yes, Chef!
It’s crazy to see what can be accomplished with competent management that actually do their jobs and have functioning brain cells. All the new canucks higher ups in the org are very smart and skilled professionals, it’s so refreshing after a decade of pain.
Good lord, we might have the best front office in the entire league. The things they scheme keep blowing my mind. I didn’t fully understand this trade until it was spelled out like that. Incredible work.
This is refreshing for sure. They have flexibility for the first time in a long while.
Bruins put Patera on waivers so perhaps this newfound capspace disappears I’d we reclaim him.
Great move for the cost… this will build up money come the TD and allow some wiggle room in a #3 or 4 Dman addition
Benning was an absolute clownshow. The perpetual C- student compared to Professor Allvin.

Hey Aqua if you’re here, Chef Alvin deserves a raise!
