Nope. Hughes told Dach in his trade call the goal was to get bigger.
It would not be a bad move but unless it will spark Caulfield and get a 2026 3rd rounder you can pass. Quite sure I saw a 24 goal scorer who was 5’9 on the waiver wire today and no Caulfield homer is calling for him to be picked up. these are not playoff players.
I wouldn’t say no
Hmm, I’ll be somewhat surprised if Hughes doesn’t take him. He’s a 1st rnd pick from Quebec, and he’s from the 2019 draft. Hughes has been collecting 1st rounders from the draft.
Doubt it
well we finally got abb so give it like 5 more years and pelletier will be a hab
I would much rather they take a chance on Lavoie
Ok I get his angle, the PP was invisible in pre-season. Panic frenzy brings out clickbait, which this waiver option is, a story with wheels on another rebuild…but folks there’s no way we should even look at guys that don’t significantly add to the foundation. Pelletier’s injury projection has got to be super high…He’s 170lbs as an offensive forward *unsuccessfully*. Think Sean Farrell being muscled along the boards…Best case is maybe 20 goals if he’s healthy all year, but c’mon there’s no way he adds 20, that’s a fantasy & a suckers bet…Rafael Harvey-Pinard 185lbs played only 45 games & managed 2 goals, and got injured.
I’m thinking he gets claimed before we get a chance.
Pelletier has good stats in AHL. If we claim him, he must play in NHL (can’t assign him to AHL), right ?
If we claim him, then we have to waive either Pezzetta or ABB ?
I’m not sure why so many people want to claim him… Sure, he could be a Paul Byron-esque claim but we already have a log jam on offense and would have to send down someone who would probably do a similar job on a similar role (Roy, ABB) or just a different style and size (Heineman, Kapanen).
I feel like the timing is just not there unfortunately and the fact that they didn’t send down anyone yesterday makes me think they might just go with the current roster for opening night and see who can claim the top 6 spot or simply use Armia and fill in the 3rd line.
A line of Gally-Pelletier-HP could be really interesting and so annoying lol.
Causation is not necessarily the result of correlation. The Bruins small centre Pit Martin was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for Phil Espositio in 1967 and the rest is history.
Not a good sign if Calgary can’t even find a place for him.
And the tweet is stupid on its premise because if Pelletier were 5’10, there is no link.
Pelletier was on the same U20 team as Newhook, Dach, Guhle and Barron. 3 of those were acquired via trade by Hughes. Pelletier outscored them all in that tournament. So he should at the very least be a known inside the Habs’ org.
His agent is Olivier Fortier, an ex-Habs player who basically followed the same path as Kent Hughes: stopped playing, studied law, passed the bar, worked as a lawyer and also became a player agent. He’s also the agent of Beck and Roy, so he already has a work relationship with Hughes.
None of this means the Habs even have any interest in Pelletier, but surely he’s on the radar.
The Calgary-to-Montreal-front-office pipeline prepares for its next hire.
If we grab either of him or Lavoie, Kapanen is back in sweden 100%.
Do we even have a spot for him?
I just dont see the point.
Honestly I wouldn’t be opposed to picking him up. We have a void with Laines absence and Roy had a pretty bad camp.
