  1. None of them looked great in the preseason, and definitely not good enough to force someone on to waivers

  2. Can’t lie, Roy being sent down angers me. In most because it’s his own fault. He looked so disengaged and demotivated every game.

Does he have the talent? Yes.

Does he have an ego? Also probably yes, some people were saying he probably thought he was a lock.

Hope this means Kapanen is given a top 6 shot w/ Dach, but I’m hoping this is a cap move

  3. Dobes looked awesome

Engstrom looked ok but clearly needs a year or two in the AHL, no surprise there

Mailloux was a bit underwhelming, he needs more structure in his game to be able to show off his skills , Baron played better basically

Joshua Roy has some flashes but overall he was disappointing, no question there. Kapanen and Barre Boulet were by far superior

Little gold star to Struble, he looks NHL ready and will be perfect for our third pairing.

  4. Josh Roy only being sent down for Cap, will be brought back for Game 1 y’all need to breathe 😂

  5. No real surprises here for me. Roy looked disengaged like he was assured of a spot. You can’t afford to coast through pre-season when you barely played more than twenty games.

Almost nobody else in the same situation took it for granted. Struble played great, Xhekaj had a great last game, even guys like Pezzetta showed up and tried.

I’m also extremely happy with Heineman making the team. I thought he was great this pre-season, and most of his plays were impactful. His timing was a bit off on his shots and passes, but that’ll adjust as he plays more.

  6. Not sure if Roy going down is a message after a low effort preseason or just cap management. Either way I see him back in the lineup very soon.

  7. Was fairly impressed with Dobes. Nice to know we have someone who can be a decent option if one of the two regular goalies are injured or falters this season.

  8. I’m good with all these moves. Heineman could bring some nice offense to a third line.

  9. Christ did Joshua Roy like bang a bunch of your moms or something, what’s with the assumptions about his attitude. He had a rough preseason, lots of guys did. He’ll figure it out.

  10. Roy & Mailloux is not surprising, not bad camps but they both need this time to settle in and return back from Laval strong. Adam Engström will get even better I hope & be available for callups as a great option, Jakub Dobeš is going to be interesting this year as he’s got Hughes & as an option for promotion should things look bad for Monty/Primeau in net this year.

  11. Une bonne claque qui devrait rappeler à Roy de ne pas redevenir le Joshua de St-Johns mais bien celui de Sherbrooke.

  12. PPL in this thread acting like we have the forward depth to send Roy to the AHL. I’ll be very surprised if he stays in the AHL any significant amount of time.

  13. Not sure I follow the logic of Roy being sent down for cap reasons. His cap hit is not bigger than Kapanen or Heineman. I expect he’ll be called up soon but I don’t see this as simply a paper transaction.

  14. It’s a confidence call down for Roy I think they probably gave him very specific instructions on what to work on. He’s still young no use seeing him struggle at the NHL if time in the AHL will allow him to work on the elements that he needs

  15. Roy going down could just be a move to see Kapanen for his 9 games and they’ll likely send him back imo when they’ll just call Roy back up immediately

  16. Roy and Mailloux disappoint me. They deserve to be sent down. Let’s hope that they will perform well with Rocket and be called up later in the season.

Bravo to the Management team to make the right decision.

  17. Everyone here says Roy’s camp was disappointing but so was caufield, slafkovsky, armia, evans, matheson’s camp, to name a few. As a team, the habs showed nothing since laine’s injury. Hutson, ABB, Kapanen, Struble being exception.
