Nwosu officially out for upcoming 49ers game [Brady Henderson]

So how are we feeling about Nwosu? He has played in 7 of his last 22 games. Pair this with the upcoming Mafe and Cross deals…Cap casualty?

  1. Damn that sucks, knowing our luck we are gonna let him walk and then the next team that signs him is gonna get a pro bowl level season out of him

  2. 2025 is his biggest cap hit at $21.5 million but there’s $13 million dead cap if he is cut or traded. He is out with a thigh injury, which isn’t usually something that ends your season. There’s no reason not to think he will come back and play well the rest of the season. Talking about cutting him at this point is way premature.

  3. The last 2 years he’s been nothing but injured.

    Unfortunate.

Really was hoping we wouldn’t have another Cj procise or Rashad Penny of injuries.

  4. Dremont and Nwosu are easy cap decisions next year.

Edit: for downvote gang – Cross, Woolen, Mafe, K9 are all going into contract years + Geno and DK 3rd contracts coming up + maybe re-sign Dodson/Baker/FA LB + Connor Williams or FA center, etc etc.

Gotta get the money from somewhere

  5. Still a nice player to have when healthy, it all depends on the cap situation. Don’t cut him if it doesn’t actually help you financially.

  6. No one is arguing that he isn’t a good player, the question is just paying for availability. Is it worth paying so.eone if they miss somewhere between 6-9 games each season too injuries?

We are facing the exact same question with Lucas, even when he is back, will he be able to stay healthy, or should we pay people to play 4 games and then sit back with injuries the rest of the year?

George Fant, however, is a definite cut. Had one job to keep us from relying on Forsyth, and he couldn’t do that.

  7. We’re in week 6, I think we can hold prognosticating about who’s staying and who’s getting cut for at least another month or so…

  8. Hard to have much faith in a guy that seems to be made of glass. Bad joke, but Nwosu can’t seem to stay on the field to actually show his impact on the games. I hope he proves us all wrong the second half of this season. Until he’s 100% nothing is going to change. We have 2 young studs that deserve the spotlight as well.

  9. I feel the same as the day we got him. We paid too much money for an average player. It’s shitty with the injury luck he’s had, but all in all it was a bad contract by Pete and John in the first place. Hopefully he can get in some games at some point in the season, as he seems to go off in 2-3 games each season and then pretty much entirely disappear.
