  1. Positives from today’s Cleveland POSTSEASON baseball:

Matthew Boyd👦 takes the mound for game two in his first ever postseason start, and pitches like an absolute wizard. Both the third and fourth innings ended with a runner stranded on third base, and Jhonk🎄 got to show off the glove work in right field. However, it wasn’t until the fifth when we got to truly see the Big Christmas Howitzer with an absolutely perfect cannon of a throw to second base to snag Malloy attempting to extend a single to a double. Boyd departed after the cannon shot, with a final line of 4.2IP, 4H, 0R, 2BB, and 5K on 72 pitches (46 strikes). Boyd stranded 5 on the basepaths and caused the Tigers to go 0-5 with RISP.

And onto K’d Smith it went, with an immediate strikeout for our ROY candidate, and the enthusiasm finally breathed life into our offense with a one out Josh Naylor💨 double getting to be our first baserunner of the afternoon. Jhonk immediately also reached on a HBP, but no damage was done due to a double play. Cade quickly sat down the next three with a pair of strikeouts and a fly out.

Rocchio tried to get us rolling in the 6th with another one out double, and Kwan👑 followed him up with a short single, but another double play put an end to the action. Cade returned for a quick infield pop out for the first out in the seventh, before handing the reins off to resident elite bullpen
lefty Tim Herrin. Herrin did give up a walk, but got a Jhonk fly out and a strikeout to end his half inning.

Hunter Gaddis☠️ entered in the eighth to continue the bullpen show. A pop up was followed by a quick doubles, but the power of Carl Willis is an incredible thing, and Gaddis got an immediate strikeout. An intentional walk and then… Clase is now in session.

Emmanuel Clase🐉 is going to be one of the greatest of all time. And of course, it certainly helps having a gold glove on left field… STEVEN KWAN WHAT A CATCH!!! We head to the bottom of the eighth… Manzo🥸, ya gave it a ride, good effort.

That, ah… that’s where we’ll wrap up today. sigh. Can’t win if you don’t score. Two more to take the series.

  2. I know we were done three but fuck that home umpire Jesus Christ that bottom of the 9th was atrociously called

  3. Well that was weird.

Skubal is pretty legit – better hope we don’t see him again

  4. Obviously the clase homer is shocking, but those two double plays were absolute back breakers. Regroup and come back on Wednesday. Only option

  5. Welp that’s a tough one, but it’s the playoffs we weren’t going to sweep throughout anyway time to bounce back on Wednesday

  6. They’ve been blanked. We’ve been blanked.

It’s a best of 3 and they’re not going to get to Clase like that again.

We’re going to take it all in Detroit.

  7. So many in this community praised Detroit and couldn’t of been happier for them to make the postseason.

Nah screw that. They’re the rival and I cannot stand the Detroit Tigers.

  8. that was on the bats, not Clase

score some fucking runs “oH WoE buT SkuBAl” but nothing, learn to hit against good pitching sometimes

  9. These umps just keep making the case for robot umps.

That being said if we don’t let Skubal off the hook in back to back innings we’re up 2-0.

  10. That last pitch was legit 8 inches low. You cannot do that in a postseason game- should not be behind the plate for anything else this postseason. Wow

  11. Their 8, 9 hitters got on base and the guy on top of the lineup card took care of business

What a concept. Didn’t know you could do that.

  12. “Best closer in the league” is always the kiss the death as soon as the announcer says that. Was he overthrowing?

  13. If they’re going to win by getting to Clase, what can you do but tip your cap and move on? We’ve won all year by having him shut it down. At least it came in a game where they threw their ace and he was dealing, which was always going to be the hardest game to win. On to the next 😤

  14. Absolutely heartbreaking from Clase, but I am going to be optimistic and say that was just him getting all his earned runs out of the way for this post season. Last year, cutter’s were Carpenter’s very best pitch and sliders were his very worst, so I understand the strategy, but I really wish Clase either buried the slider like he has all year or trusted his cutter which led him to a .61 ERA.

  15. I’m disappointed, but this is far from over. I hope Clase shakes it off and Vogt doesn’t try to get too cute with the pen going forward.

  16. I have two siblings who couldn’t give a fuck about sports and sometimes I’m jealous of them.

  17. I really did expect to lose today but Cleveland sports really have a knack for finding a way to to make it extra disappointing anyway.
17 scoreless innings and they finally score off of CLASE????!!!!
Bounce back on Wednesday let’s go boys

  18. The pitch calling in the home run AB was atrocious… Clase hangs 2 sliders in a row and Bo calls a third slider which he promptly hangs and gives up a home run. Doesn’t make any sense

  19. Skubal can’t pitch every game and his strike zone looked like it was the size of a boat! On to the next one! Let’s go Guards!!!

  20. First year catcher behind the plate too. Not his fault clase missed his location that bad but gotta imagine if hedges is still behind the dish, pitch sequence would have been different

  21. That was an electrifying playoff game for eight innings. I’m still reeling from Jhonk’s throw, Kwan’s catch… but, man oh man, does that HR Clase gave up sting like a sunnuvabetch.
