[Kirschner] Aaron Judge on how he’s feeling at the plate through 2 games: “If I’m not hitting 1.000, I’m not feeling good. I just have to keep getting on base for the guys behind me. If they get on, we got to drive them in.”

  1. I mean what’s he supposed to say. He obviously knows he’s struggling and the monkey is on his back.

  2. No, you have to drive in runners. What is this skirting responsibility? You have to hit to get the runners in. Lame ass chickenshit response.

  3. Bottom line is if we’re going to make any sort of a real run we need Judge to be Judge. If he can’t play to the level we know he can in the playoffs this team will fall short regardless of how everyone else plays. He’s a generational player, the best I’ve ever seen and he needs to show up in October and hopefully November or else this is all for nothing.

  4. Mr June with his usual october disappearance. Soto will save us or no one will.

  5. He’s got the right mindset. Simplify it Aaron, this isn’t you buddy. You’re bigger and better than this.

  6. He’s slowly going past A-rod levels of playoff incompetence and towards Teixeira. Conveniently the Yankees have a broad scale of big named talent that have atrocious playoff numbers.

  7. this is a non answer. he needs to recognize the problem and take responsibility to fix it

  8. Judge is 0-8 with 3 Ks against Lugo in his career, who is starting game 3. Is Wednesday the biggest game of Judge’s career so far?

Edit: also a .751 OPS at Kauffman

  9. Is there a stat that shows how many of Judges HRs are against the top 2-3 starters or how many hits? I’m wondering if there is any significant data that shows if judge has just been hitting back end starters to get his stats or if it is evenly distributed.

  10. People on this sub are insane. He hasn’t played great, but it’s only been two games. He’ll contribute before all is said and done.

  11. I love Judge, but sadly, he’s no Jeter. It’s a hard mantle to carry being the Captain of the Yankees. Pressure is huge during the season, and come playoff time, it’s tenfold. I hope he can find what’s missing, but the media already has him labeled as a post season negative.

  12. Baseball is a funny sport. Players, reporters, managers, writers, and announcers make billions upon billions collectively, all usually finding a way to say “we need to hit the baseball” in a different way.

  13. A deflection of responsibility, I don’t like that. He is 1 for 7 with 4 Ks and 2 BBs.

He has come up in both games in the first inning with Gleyber and Soto on and struck out. He isn’t even getting on base for the guys behind him.

When you are being paid 40 million a year and are being treated as the King of New York, you need to produce and own your shit. It’s on him, not the guys behind him.

  14. He was 1-3 with a walk today. Yes he’s struggled in the postseason and no that’s not what we need from him, but can we relax?

  15. I was downvoted (and maybe will be again for repeating it) when a post was made about Judge being better than Derek Jeter. I said he has to actually prove himself in the playoffs like Jeter did, the guy who has 5 championships and was a huge, huge part of those teams. Both in the regular season *and* the postseason. And the guy with over 3,000 hits.

I said Yankee fans need to be more humble than that, throwing Jeter to the side for a guy with zero championships and zero big hits in the postseason.

I’m a huge Aaron Judge fan, he is my favorite active player. He’s fun to watch and it would be crazy to deny that he absolutely helped get us to the playoffs. He’s the MVP of 2024 and I think he will be the MVP a couple more times. But he really needs to show up in the postseason if he really wants to be in the same sentence as the past Yankee greats.
