He’s a Freed Man!
I hope he doesn’t get claimed. I like him as a depth defenceman and thought he had a good preseason.
Is this a bit weird to do after announcing the opening night lineup yesterday?
trade incoming? does it make sense under any other context?
he should pass through
Damn, I would have put Friedman ahead of Forbort on the depth chart. He had a great preseason, and does his role well. And also fits in with the character of the team by pissing the opposition off. Hope he doesn’t get claimed!
Probably just trying to accrue more cap space or calling someone else up
My guess is now that they have Brannstrom as extra defense depth, the value of accruing the extra cap space with him in the minors is worth more than the risk of him getting claimed.
Fingers crossed u dont take away our bench warrior. I literally love this guy
This leaves us with a 22 man roster, and an extra 750K in cap space which can accrue more by deadline time.
My guess is that they are trying to sneak Friedman through now rather than later when either Joshua or Demko is back, as we would need to waive someone then in addition to sending Räty down.
Any time I read these headlines, I just picture Allvin throwing a player onto a bus and forcing the player to rent a condo in Abby.
Always forget it’s usually a paper transaction.
Just bring my Buba Bains back pleaee
If he clears that ahl d depth just got more fun
When was the last time we were legit under the salary cap to start a season? And with management already thinking about space available at the deadline to buy because we’re ***expected*** to make playoffs.
Good lord this is refreshing.
It’s refreshing watching waivers happen with what seems like actual strategy and good timing behind them, and not having to watch someone quickly get yanked away for nothing because the kitchen was on fire…
Excellent depth and a good dude to have around but good move by management to prioritize cap accuring for trades down the line

[And here I was less than 24 hours ago wondering why he wasn’t sent down yet lol](https://www.reddit.com/r/canucks/s/LBPTquUGzG)
