  1. Adames because HSK will probably be out for a decent chunk of next year and who knows what his arm will be like when he’s back.

  2. Their cost is way different, as Adames will be a lot more pricier. Would be great to sign Adames but cost will be an issue.

  3. Giants need pitching, starters, mid relief and closer. Everything else is next on the list.

  4. We need bats so Adames, Kim would also be a nice addition but only if we add a big time bat at 1B, DH or the OF.

  5. Adames is the better player, but will cost a lot more and a draft pick due to likely receiving the QO

Kim will come likely without the QO and cost less, allowing the Giants to allocate more for other areas (mainly starting pitching)

  6. Going to go against the grain and say Kim. Although the bat is league average, his defense and base-running skills are great. A Chapman-Kim left side of the infield would be defensively awesome.

My concern with Adames is his strikeout rate. In his last three seasons, he has struckout 166, 165, and 173 times and his career SO% rate is 27.2% which is 5% higher than the MLB average.

  7. The Giants need to get better on offense but they’re bad defensively too. Pitching and defense is the most realistic and reliable way to win with our park. I like Adames’s bat quite a bit but his defense is mediocre. Kim is the better defensive shortstop but he’s hurt, and he plays balls out on defense so my guess is that he’ll be hurt again soon. I’d be happy with either but I’d rather they got a really good defensive SS and found a bat at 1st and RF.
