Twins Leaving Bally Sports North: New TV Partner Will Be MLB Itself, Blackouts Are Gone

This is great news. I’m a Twins fan living out of state so have been able to subscribe to MLB TV since I moved away. Glad folks in Minnesota will be able to do the same
😲
Master has presented the Twins with socks. Twins are FREEEEEE
What about the people who don’t have access to MLB.tv?
I don’t want to have to figure out how to explain streaming to my parents
Cable option or no?
Lost me as a fan. I’ll need to find another hobby to take up that time.
How much did the Padres games cost this year?
Great for people who want to watch the games. Bad for people who want the team to have real TV revenue to help the payroll debacle.
I already quit being a fan until the pohlads sell
As long as the blackout is removed for Central Iowa as well, this is fantastic news. We’re ‘in market’ for the Twins, Brewers, White Sox, Cubs, Cardinals and Royals and subject to blackout for all of them. I’ve done the VPN thing, I’ve done Fubo, I just want to pay to watch Twins games. I don’t even really care what I have to pay. The only thing I don’t want to be forced into is illegally streaming games from somewhere.
They desperately needed some good PR and I think for a lot of fans, particularly ones who are vocal on social media, this is probably the best move within their control.Â
We shouldn’t forget the misteps on this last year (and apparently MLB itself may have blown up the streaming conversation) but St Peter coming out with this news at this time was really smart.Â
They also said pretty clearly that the decision to move to streaming won’t further impact the payroll. And while the payroll is still a disaster issue for them they had an opportunity to make a trade off on payroll with this decision and they didn’t.Â
This ownership group is still deeply deeply flawed and I think Joe Pohlad is not equipped to be the steward for a baseball franchise but that said, they get this win as far as I’m concerned.
F’in Finally!!
Will the games be available on YouTube TV now?
Too little too late. Not subscribing until they show me a reason to want to invest time and money in the team, since the pohlads clearly don’t care.
Who cares, fuck the twins owners
At least this piece of off-season uncertainty and front office poor judgment over the last two years is finally resolved.
What I wanna know is if I will still have access to the games with them switching to this. I always had access via the MLB at Bat subscription for free via Tmobile (live in Vegas) and wonder if I’ll get that now included or have to pay the extra for those games? When the Diamondbacks and Padres switched they still remained blacked out (in market obviously) so I’m hoping since the Twins are out market I won’t have to pony up more $$$. 😆
This is a step in the right direction guys
About. Fucking. Time.
As a Twins fan currently living in Iowa, I can’t wait for next year
If and more than likely the Tigers and Royals do join you and the Guardians, it’ll be one great party in the AL Central, being truly free from Bally’s incompetence going forward.
Not including the White Sox since they weren’t on a Bally Sports channel anyway.
Don’t forget that it sounds like they will be getting even less “TV” money this upcoming year. But then they tried to say they would be making for down the road. Which makes no sense to me. MLB isn’t going to increase the money every year. They are bailing them out because these teams can’t find a deal on their own.
Any word on how much revenue this generated for the Padres this year? I fear the Pohlads making further cuts if they cant get close to that $54 mil in revenue directly from the fans now.
