Looks like Johansson made the 23 man roster. Good for him.

  1. He made the roster, but he is practicing on the 4th pair with the guy who just got waived. So not likely he is in the opening night lineup.

  2. With Holl getting waived it was likely. He can play both sides which will be extremely important when/if someone gets injured.

He doesn’t even need to be a stud out there imo. He just needs to prove he can be a stable bottom pair piece. We have 3? young defenseman that are destined for the top 4.

Stevie has always been high on him. After seeing how smooth his skating and breakout passes are, I’m confident he could help fill out our young D core.

  3. He was 99.9% likely to be one of the 23 guys, he is no longer waiver exempt. If they tried to send him back to GR he would’ve been claimed.

  4. He’s on the extra pair with Holl. So, no. He’s not playing until someone gets injured or plays badly.

  5. how do you not understand this? AJ is waiver exempt, so obviously he was making the team. They will give him a chance to be an effective NHLer and then either waive or trade him later if he doesn’t cut it.

  6. In an ideal situation, AlJo plays strong enough by the trade deadline that we can safely move Maatta for a pick and not lose anything.

  7. It was a foregone conclusion that he would make the roster, seeing as he would have had to go through waivers and would certainly be picked up.

  8. How do interpret lines when they’re posted like this? I’ve been a casual hockey fan but always supported the Wings. Trying to learn more
