Alex Sarr will be proof that Summer League means next to nothing.

He didn’t have a great game last night, but his debut was solid and he’s showing a lot of promise against actual NBA competition. Summer League is not as important as everyone makes it out to be. Have a little faith in your second overall pick.

  1. His three point shot looks good, he’s going to the basket more, he can run the court, he’s altering and blocking shots. I’m not sure about 1 to 5, but he’s athletic enough to switch to multiple positions on defense.

Probably not a franchise player, but won’t be a bust.

  2. It was silly watching people bash him over the summer league. He’s extremely young, athletic and developing his game. He’ll be fine.

  3. Bro, finally someone with sense is posting. I put my thoughts on the same sub during summer league. I told everyone he will be better with a PG feeding him off the pick and roll playing PF. Also he has established NBA vets in the rotation not summer league rookies. In two years everyone will be saying “man he’s a good player’ . I guess summer league really doesn’t mean much!

  4. It’s not so much about the league it’s just a very small sample size in a weird environment.

  5. Glen Rice Jr. was the winner of the Summer League MVP in 2014. Dennis Smith Jr. was looking like the best PG in the world.

I never took summer league seriously ever since then.

  6. Mfs shouldn’t have overreacted after SL, and we still should take preseason with a grain of salt. But he does look *comfortable* out there. That was probably my biggest gripe with him during SL, not that he didn’t look comfortable, but he genuinely looked like he was afraid of contact. Not willing to box out for rebounds, didn’t want to carve out space on the low block, and wanted to finish with too much finesse at the rim. He legitimately looked like a player who grew a foot overnight and was unaware that they were 7 feet tall.

I know during SL they wanted him to play a particular way just to see what he is and isn’t capable of… but I’m sure as hell they didn’t want him out there playing contactless basketball. Those were legitimate concerns that I had about his game, but it appears that he’s put those to bed.

  7. lol yeah but don’t act like summer league didn’t have you a little worried haha

Nah but I’m glad he’s lookin more comfortable and has been going to the rack more. I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops over the season
