  1. It really is the most emotionless broadcast ever.

I believe they should pull 1 guy from each teams home broadcasts and they should call all the games from that series

  2. I like the part where he reminds us Giancarlo Stanton is a feeble little man made of tiny bones and that he can’t run at all. For the 50th time per broadcast.

  3. I’ve been listening to WFAN because of this. John Sterling is a pleasure to listen to.

  4. Michael Kay defending him to death on his show just minutes ago. it’s ok to admit that yeah he once was considered really good many moons ago but times have changed and 99 percent of baseball fans in this current era do not enjoy his style of commentary.

  5. It’s truly awful. What’s with Costas’ utter delight in repeatedly discussing Aaron Judge’s struggles? Jesus Christ- we get it.

Ron Darling is also painfully boring.

  6. He’s absolutely insufferable now. It’s almost impossible to listen to. In fact I’ve stopped. I put on a podcast or Youtube video on another device while the game is on. I watch the game and listen to whatever I possibly can to avoid Costas. Oof. Just awful

  7. This has to be the 10th topic posted on r/NYYankees about Bob Costas. Can’t we consolidate this into one massive post about Yankee fans hating Bob Costas?

  8. People say they hate Stephen A S Smith but he is arguably the most popular sports media figure, maybe ever.

I don’t think people actually hate the likes of Stephen A Smith. They really do want the “excitement” and Stephen A delivers. Yes it’s true that Bob Costas is getting old, but that’s not why people don’t like him. It’s his broadcasting style, which sadly seems to be outdated. I don’t need an announcer to scream when a player hits a home run or makes another big play. I can do that myself. But apparently some people do need that. It’s a shame if you ask me.

  9. Home team announcers for each game. Two Yanks’ announcers for 1,2, two Royals’ for 3,4, back to Yanks for 5.

  10. Wish he would stfu for one full inning so we could actually hear the beautiful sound of baseball.

  11. Bob Costas needs to go do golf. He shows zero excitement. He probably can’t even be heard over a golf clap.

  12. I’m torn on this one. On one hand Costas is terrible, awful, no good etc. On the other hand this is SI pointing that out.

    Pots and kettles…

  13. I am watching the game on TBS but listening to the WFAN feed through the MLB app. What Yankee fan could go through these playoffs and miss John Sterling’s swan song. He’s doing his usual great job, by the way.

  14. Love that Ron darling consistently tells us how dog shit this Yankees team is and how we’re not good

  15. He’s outright disrespecting some of our players and it’s annoying. On top of them muting crowd audio and the commentary being boring, it’s Just a horrible product man

  16. Just sync the Radio audio and listen to John Sterling for what could be his last games!

  17. I like Bob Costas but he is HORRIBLE at Baseball. And for some reason when he calls Yankees games, he’s even worse. Get this guy outta here.

  18. Listen is he the best? No but every year it’s the same shit where everyone cries about him. He’s an old man and a legend in sports broadcasting. We can handle one little series with him.

  19. I mean yea, the commentary sucks, but the production is the main thing. I still don’t know how Soto scored yesterday on Stantons double. Don’t bother showing it, fans don’t need to see…

  20. He was all excited… “ line drive to centre field “ , then Volpe snagged it. Lmao. What a call.

  21. I’m so glad everyone else is suffering with me. As a superstitious baseball fan. Bob, shut up about judge being less than par in the playoffs!! Holy moly. We know.

    Just awful.

  22. I like Costas but… His bs criticism of Stanton better end now that Giancarlo single handedly won game 3 for us!!!

  23. TBS has been broadcasting baseball for almost 2 decades, and they’ve been broadcasting huge games. The fact that they still make so many basic production mistakes and make the choices they make to interview George Brett for half an inning, for example. As an indictment on them.

MLB should really reevaluate their relationship with Turner. These broadcasts are detrimental to the game.

  24. I like his style of broadcasting but you can tell he only does a handful of games per year and he’s not close to knowledgeable about the current league as he is about past years of baseball

  25. He talks more about the story and lore than the game itself.

It’s why he worked so well in BASEketball

  26. TBH I think the structure of baseball broadcasts make it harder to get good post season commentary. Most baseball is aired on regional networks each with their own announcers so no one can build a rapport with a national audience and in the post season we’re stuck with part time announcers reading cliffs notes
