The Canucks season opener completely SHOCKED everybody…

The Vancouver Canucks lose to the Calgary Flames in their NHL season opening game… Quinn Hughes and JT Miller linked up for a nice play but overall, the Canucks fell apart, Arturs Silovs didn’t look like himself. Brock Boeser had a good game, but the flames battled back despite all odds and won the game, credit to them.

  1. Calgary had a spark after that Miller hit. Maybe the first game loss will be a spark for rest of the season. We got a point at least. 81 games to go. May have been embarrassing but I would feel a lot worse if I was an oilers fan tonight lol.

  2. People saying;
    "Terrible loss"
    It was a fantastic game. Glad I watched, even though I was rooting for the Canucks.
    I would say this is a great loss – A reminder and a reality check as to what it takes to win in this league.

  3. Soucy and Myers looked like the 3rd pair that they ought to be. Forbort and Desharnais were bush league.

    Desharnais especially is a total liability out there. The only thing he does with his size is take dumb penalties. Swapping him out for Juulsen would be an immediate upgrade, and would have made the difference in this game.

  4. When Calgary took the lead I punched my wall so hard my hand started bleeding. When Miller tied it I screamed so loud I woke the whole neighborhood

  5. This is on Tocc as much as the team. Now is the time to see if Tocc is different from Green and Boudreau. Can we get this team to elevate after a year of some success and not just say the words.

  6. I think last night was a good wake up call to the boys that what they accomplished last season is all last season, this is a new season and you have to re-establish your team's identity.

    There were games last season where we take a huge lead in the first and just sort of played passive hockey in the second and third period to close it out. Difference was, Demko was in net and he always stops the shots and prevent the other team to gain any momentum with his saves.

    We have to learn how to play without having an elite level Vezina goalie in net. I believe this team have the personnel to succeed, but just like the old saying goes "You can have all the skills in the world, but when hardwork outwork the skill, hardwork comes out on top." That's exactly what happened to us last night.

    We were winning in the first period not just because we have a more skilled line up, it's because we were outworking the Flames. We stopped doing that in the second and third period and that's why we lost.

  7. Canucks went from looking like playoff contenders to forgetting how to play defence in a span of 20 minutes. Hopefully this is first game of the season type thing and it doesn’t happen again anytime soon.
