New lines in practice (Talbot likely starting tomorrow, D pairings may differ)

  1. What is funny is we ran the same lines yesterday that we lost games with in preseason. It’s like this coaching staff refuses to learn and refine until it happens 3-4 times, goaltending excluded.

  2. Ugh, this is how you torpedo your prospects – the necessity of potentially putting Ed with offhand Gus does not bode well for his early season development. But, OTOH, there is literally no other viable partner for him that would result in even a suggestion of a 3rd pair.

The cumulative effect of bad rosters is brutal…

  3. I know Lalonde loves that third line, but can we please call up Kasper and have him replace Fischer on it. Not that I don’t like Fischer, but Kasper would bring so much more offense. Slide Fischer down to the fourth line.

  4. I like the lines. Motte-Veleno-Bergers started looking good towards the end of the game. They can at least play with a lot of speed. Game one is over so the rust is off now lets see what happens.

  5. Debrincat Larkin Kane pisses me off so much. First line last game was electric to end the year and we keep going away from it for no reason.

  6. Further clarification from Ansar on the D pairs:

“Those aren’t necessarily the D-pairs for tomorrow. They’re using multiple combinations in practice.”

  7. Yeah, looking at forwards. Let’s break up our best offensive line from last night, and (checks notes) nothing else… really?!

  8. I cannot tell you exactly why, but I’m so tempted to nickname Johansson Johannes Brahms.

Also hot take I think the nickname game in hockey is kinda weak 🫣.
