[Philly Sixers Galaxy] Jared McCain played “extremely well” during the #Sixers training camp – with his offensive skill standing out, team sources told @Tjonesonthenba of @TheAthletic

“Multiple team sources indicate McCain has played extremely well in camp, especially on offense. He’s played without fear, but most importantly, with patience and aplomb … McCain’s locker is next to star guard Tyrese Maxey, and the two have already forged a good relationship.”

  1. People are going to downvote me for it but I’d much rather watch McCain play and get minutes than Eric Gordon at this point.

  2. I wonder if the “trade McCain” people are the same braindead fans who wanted to trade Maxey for his first 2+ seasons too. Ridiculous suggestion

  3. Sorry to break this to everyone talking about trading this kid; but the team aint winning with embiid and PG. Better to look at the Maxey era and his timeline which this kid fits into.

  4. I love to hear it, but I can’t imagine that they’re not pumping his value to deal him.

I actually really believe the kid can play, but I can’t imagine any world in which you can realistically have him and Maxey share the floor in a serious setting. If that’s the case, then he can’t play more than ~12-14mpg, and less in the playoffs longterm.

Two small guards that don’t defend sharing the floor together is just a recipe for disaster in today’s league

  5. We should not trade him at all, he fits the Maxey timeline like a glove, just get better at defense

  6. Its too early for any attachment one way or the other, but if he’s able to hit those quick release high catch 3s with any kind of consistency against NBA defenders, he will be a valuable bench guy.

  7. Once he starts playing and winning games as a spark plug, people are gonna be sad to look back on their “pump up his trade value” takes.

  8. Has no one in this subreddit watched last seasons games? How could so many people expect a trade due to his size and athleticism when the Sixers were playing Lowry, PatBev, CamPayne, or Melton on the floor with Maxey.

There are schemes to limit the liability of undersized defenders, at the end of the day putting the ball into the basket is more valuable in the modern NBA because even with perfect defense you are still going to get scored on because the offense is just too good in the NBA.

Did no one see this kids quick trigger 3? Lookin like Batum out there, kids going to be dangerous in a year.
