A trade involving Devin Williams to the Phillies and Alec Bohm to the Brewers feels like it’d make alot of sense.
So in a post Williams scenario, who do we see as our closer. We didn’t really have a traditional “set up” man. Our bullpen just kinda did what they had to do to help the team. When Hader left it was logical to have Williams move into the role of closer, but I don’t see a particular arm that’s in the same situation. Do we go shopping?
Abolish the closer role. Play matchups instead.
Woodruff as closer tbh
Here’s the list:
Vlad jr Yandy Diaz Josh Naylor Bo Bichette Starling Marte Zac Gallen Devin Williams Jeff McNeil Alec Bohm Garrett Crochet
The closer is the dumbest position in baseball. Why always save your best short inning pitcher for the 9th? Greg always said he would do that, but never did. Also, trade Devin.
