Just gotta appreciate how big of a difference Kiké made in this game. Not only the obviously huge home run but he made some incredible defensive plays at 3B to close it out. I was worried about all the defensive switches at the end of the game but these guys are true professionals, utility players of the utmost utility. I’m glad we brought him back from Boston. Bc he doesn’t give a fuck.
The Padres probably have the best pitching in MLB, and they executed their plan perfectly against Ohtani.
I don’t expect him to slump the remaining postseason.
I’m so happy for Doc. Takes all the heat when we lose. The last 24 innings were a masterclass in managing. Completely outmatched Shildt who had no answers in response to his moves.
I haven’t seen too many Padres games, but would Machado’s strikeout heat chart be red on low and away pitches? Feel like he always chases those sweepers.
the cold offense was gonna catch up to us eventually, but it was cool to get as far as we did with how last season ended, and how everything looked coming into this season. on to the next one.
Both teams have stellar pitching and it showed in the last game (and that’s with a lot of Dodgers starters on the IL). The Padres limited the Dodgers to four hits, with two of them being solo homers and just one walk. Many times that’s good enough to win, but Yamamoto and the Dodgers bullpen were better last night- it’s that simple.
If you don’t like watching your team get shut out in back to back games to end the season, then you don’t like baseball baby. Anything can happen on any night, it just sucks that it happened to happen on these two.

Credit to Yu Darvish. I was listening to Kike’s postgame interview, and he said Darvish did a great job in messing with his timing.
What an absolute clinic from Doc this series. He’s taken so much heat for his game management over his tenure, but he was damn near perfect in the NLDS.
Also shoutout to Vesia for taking himself out the second he started cramping up. Lotta guys woulda tried to let the adrenaline carry them through and either injured themselves even more, or been less effective and gotten shelled.

You know…I get that a lot of this can be attributed to San Diego’s offense suddenly coming to a crashing halt…but like, can Dodgers fans share some insight on what changes were perhaps made by Roberts and the team that led to this remarkable comeback?
I’m sure some of it has to do with improved play from the LA side in the end of the day…

Sports are brutal.
That was a really fun and competitive series until the last 20 or so innings. The Hernandez grand slam broke us somehow. Dodgers’ pitching was very good, despite the starters not doing well overall. Surprised to see our starting pitching, aside from Darvish just totally not hold it down.
Anyway, it felt really good to play some meaningful baseball in October. We don’t really get that often.
My ideal outcome was Darvish pitches well and the Dodgers still win, but another shutout…wow. Yu didn’t deserve to take the L.
I love a number of Dodgers as individuals—Ohtani, Mookie, Kiké, Teoscar, Freddie—yet I am sad that they won as a team.
