  1. Does not look bad, for a rookie with a old-fashioned center game. Most of the shots were barely enough ending up bumping on the rim, but the fundamentals seem to be there.

Long road ahead, but there seems to be material for a more-than-solid player.

  2. I was so wrong about him, I thought he’d be another Jahlil Okafor or Boban

He also looked terrible defensively when switched onto the perimeter for Canada last year at the World Cup but seems to have improved

Grizzlies got their Steven Adams replacement

  3. Biggest takeaway for me is his foot speed, several of these highlights only happen bc of his lateral quickness which was the big fear about him.

  4. I can’t believe a 7’4″ dude with skills that dominated college is good at basketball. Who would have thought?

  5. The consistent underselling of this guy when he dominated college is crazy, idgaf if he’s slow he’ll be fine

  6. And he’s 7 foot tall and YOU CANT TEACH THAT!

Edit: I fucking love how many people get this reference

  7. He kinda moves like Tim Duncan. Not that I think he will be as good of a defender. But a little slow but always in control. We’ve seen plenty of “slow” bigs do well.

  8. Not too mentioned he got fouled at least 6 times with no whistle.

Already getting the Shaq treatment from the refs.

  9. I was thinking not having Adams anymore could be rough for the Grizzlies but maybe Edey can be a good replacement. He seems to be capable of doing most of the same things

  10. It’s so strange to me how the media just runs with narratives full steam ahead. This draft class is criminally underrated and I have a feeling this next one is going to be overrated.

  11. Second play of the clip… how you gonna leave the biggest mf wide open right underneath the basket

  12. The biggest takeaway is he had ZERO fouls while playing that aggressive. He is one disciplined defender.

  13. He’s nice. Loving those post moves and he just seems to have a knack for how to play close to the basket on both sides of the ball.

  14. Looks way more agile, everything people have wanted to see him work on for the next year or two and already showing it in his rookie season

  15. He’s much faster and mobile than I thought he ever would be in the NBA. Legit had steal of the draft, even ROY potential.

  16. He may be the biggest person I’ve seen in real life. He made other D1 giant dudes look small. It almost seemed fake

  17. His athleticism was underrated and losing some weight and getting in even better shape is totally showing. Definitely going to be problem for small teams
