I mean, maybe they aren't hoisting a cup by year 5 but they are probably favorites with Dallas to be the top team in the central years 4 and 5

Not trying to make excuses for the front office, but BG did walk into a situation where the prospect cupboard was pretty bare. Taken a while to build the pipeline.
What I can’t understand is how we score then have terrible shifts right after. Is the coaching staff putting out the correct lines / D pairings after a goal? 🥅 In hockey, anytime you get scored on, the other team is going to make a big push to try to get it back asap. The Wild seem to be sleeping on Saturday at times after scoring. The free goal on the Faceoff is inexcusable last night, just tie him up – that was a backbreaker and ended up killing them.

The Wild aren't winning anything until Spurgeon, Foligno, Zucc, Brodin, Fluery, Bogosian, Trenin, Mojo, Merrill, Freddy are off the roster.
Obviously, Kirill needs to be re-signed.
They would also need to get REALLY lucky with a few of their prospects (primarily Yurov Wallstedt) because like or not, they AREN'T ALL going to make it. They would also need to somehow convince a top 3 UFA to come to MN, which they have never once been able to do.
*You can't win with perennial injury-prone regular roster players that miss significant time.
