It’s always funny when articles discuss attendance. The Angels adverted 31,000 fans at games. From the games I went to and the ones I saw on tv I would guess maybe half that many were actually in the stadium!
They fill the seats with promo tickets. Dirt cheap tickets for schools, Girl Scouts, little league, discount tire anything to put butts in the seats.
A group of us were offered free tickets from a ticket sales rep to the fan appreciation night. We ended up getting over 250 tickets invited anyone that wanted to go. Angels ticket rep said “we will give you as many as you need” . Crazy.
I attend a handful of games a year.
They have 20k seats sold for every game to corporate sponsors, another 10k to season ticket holders. Those numbers count as “paid attendance.” The stadium seats ~45k. I would guess they averaged about 15k people per game through the turnstiles.
