Love this pickup!

  1. If this happens then I’m all for it. But I’m not holding my breath.

Although, it would be funny to have the Koreans on the Giants play the Japanese on the Dodgers.

  2. On a stronger team, Kim would be a great piece, but the Giants can’t afford to have both Kim and Lee in the lineup while both are pretty similar players.

  3. IMO it makes perfect business sense, too. Makes a sizeable dent in the Korean market, similar to the way the Dodgers have cornered the Japanese market with Ohtani and Yamamoto.

    Make it happen, boys!

  4. I’m ready for the Giants and Dodgers to be a proxy rivalry for Korea-Japan.

Only issue is there are a ton more Koreans in LA and many are hardcore Dodgers

  5. I’m out if he gets a Qualifying Offer from SD. Not worth forfeiting 2nd & 5th rounders & $1M from the international bonus pool.

Based on our current prospect rankings, the second rounder and $1M in bonus pool money are equivalent to forfeiting taking players that would likely come in ranked 3-7 and 10-15 in our farm rankings.

The QO penalty could be worth it for Adames, but I don’t think Kim is considering we would also need to outbid the market.

  6. It’s a nice thought, but Ha-Seong Kim also just switched agents about a week ago, and he’s now represented by Scott Boras. And we all know how Boras negotiates.

  7. Can someone give me a reason why this move would be net positive?

So far all I’ve heard is various forms of “He’s Korean, just like JHL! Wouldn’t that be cool?”

  8. I’m going to pass on a guy coming off shoulder surgery. If he was healthy, I’d be 100% in.

  9. According to unnamed and unsourced insiders.

Is he even healthy?? He has a bum shoulder.

  10. Ins’t he injured…why do we want damaged-goods. The idea is NOT to follow the Trent Balke-model of FA signings.

  11. Only if the price is right. He had a down year at the plate so hopefully that’s accounted for, but we desperately need solid defense up the middle

  12. Just never believe anything from that Instagram account and you’ll be much better off. It’s run by hacks with no insider knowledge, who just throw things at the wall hoping they stick. Not to be taken seriously.

  13. What happened to trusting their youth? They had Schmitt who won a gold glove at 3rd base in AAA but that’s Chapman’s job for the next 6yrs. Now you might sign Kim which pushes Schmitt to possibly learn 2nd or outfield? And Luciano will definitely have to give up mastering SS if this happens. Oh well. Let’s see how this all plays out

  14. Please, don’t be signing some guy off of an injury. When has that worked out for the Giants?
