How do yall feel about Céspedes?

Of course, have love always for the guy for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Probably no playoffs those years without him. The way his tenure ended during the pandemic was kinda shitty though

  1. We got him 2 years too late. He was one of the few guys who had the consistent power to defeat the Great Wall of Flushing.

  2. Cespedes was entertaining, even if it was sometimes for the wrong reasons. I’d love to see a world where we came to America as a teenager and reached the MLB in his early 20’s.

  3. He carried the team into the playoffs in 2015, gave us some of the most memorable moments of the 2015 run and had an absolutely solid 2016. 2017/2018 were looking like banner years until his injury and then he absolutely fell off from there. Mixed feelings I guess but the Wilpons era Mets were pretty notorious for handling injuries badly so I don’t fully blame him.

  4. I’m fine with Cespedes. I’m a little more suspect about having Harvey back, especially knowing what we know now about the tragedy with the Angels.

  5. I can understand the negativity but Yo Cespedes is definitely a part of Mets lore. His body fell apart and he might’ve been older. It happens. Just wish we’d sealed the deal. If they did, we’d be carrying him around town on our shoulders no matter what came after.

  6. Game 5, expecting Senga at the moment, and it’s gonna be Harvey to Cespedes

Buckle up folks, this one might get nutty

  7. Without him there is no 2015 and i have incredibly fond memories, and right now those memories overshadow the absurdity of his last couple years here and subsequent exit out of literal nowhere lol

“Enigma” is a way to put it?

  8. I have no problem with it. That was a special year and he was a big part of it

I would like to see endy Chavez back tho idk if he has been back recently

  9. These are great, no notes. Gotta save some heavy hitters for the WS anyway.

Any chance we can get deGrom to throw one out? And then, I dunno, just keep pitching since he’s already there…

  10. Cespedes is one of the coolest Mets of all time who carried us to a World Series and then carried us out of the abyss to another playoff spot the next season

If you’re still mad about the fake ass Covid season, grow up.

  11. You can’t deny what he did for the team in 15. The end of his time with the Mets was messy but, he’s still part of Mets history

  12. He was an absolute GOAT in 2015, for sure. But honestly, I think it should’ve been either Tejada, deGrom, or even Syndergaard. All of them were a stable in the post-2010 era. But having Harvey and Céspedes there is a W, nonetheless.

  13. It gets the people talking.

In all honesty I think it’s cool. So he took a fog machine and ditched during Covid. Oh well. That was the Wilpons and they deserved every fuck you they could get, so that’s a win in my book. Plus he helped provide the spark to get us to the postseason.

Much like a lot of Met players at times, I forget they played for us and how electric they were.

  14. Some of y’all either don’t remember the magic of 2015 or wasn’t a fan yet. That was a magical season and Cespedes is an all-timer for me.

  15. The legend of Céspedes aside, it makes me happy to see the club honor their most-recent pennant-winning teams. Guys like Matt Harvey and Yoenis Céspedes aren’t going to get numbers retired or anything, but the pennant wouldn’t have flown without them, and it’s cool to honor guys like them while this team continues writing its own story
