  1. Today’s Cleveland POSTSEASON baseball:

I have not been inebriated this entire game. Should’ve been. However- if you’re in the game thread saying “best case scenario is we lose in 7” then just get the hell out of the sub lmfao

And we’re underway in the Bronx for game two, Cole on the mound and José🐐 misses the short porch by a few feet. Dang it. Tanner “IssaBibe” Bibee takes the mound for the Guards, and with our four gold glove nominees behind him, I can’t imagine this going poorly… Rocchio. What the fuck dude. Yankees take a 1-0 lead off a double and a single, followed by Rocchio nonsense. Someone turned on the smoke machine at least, with a Josh Naylor💨 leadoff single for the second. Doesn’t go anywhere, but good to see Josh get a hit.

Bibee comes out for the second, and that’s where his night will end after a pair of singles and a double. Vogt turns to the horsemen very quickly tonight, with K’d Smith entering the game to attempt to limit the damage. Judge hits a sac fly to make it a three run deficit, but a quick strikeout stops the bleeding. The Guards threaten in the second with a pair of singles from (who else) Brayan Rocchio and Steven Kwan👑, but again cause no damage. K’d comes out for the third and does his thing again, three outs on 10 pitches (including striking out an angry Volpe lol).

Bats swinging again in the fourth, and Gerrit Cole’s daddy leads off with another single. Lane Thomas🚂 follows it with a genuine shot goblin small ball beauty, with an infield hit to make it first and second. Will Brennan🤪 grounded out to move them both over and Andres Gimenez🏅 walked to make it loaded… and that’s where it died, Fry PH goes nowhere, Rocchio battled but got rung up. Second horseman today, Tim Herrin in to pitch. A single was allowed, but three quick outs end the inning.

Back to it with Kwan being a machine and slapping another single. Kyle Manzardo🥸 makes his presence known with a single before José walked to get the bases loaded again. Josh got us on the board with a sac fly, and Lane walked to get the bases loaded again and forced Cole out. Brennan got a groundout to score another one, and Gimenez walked to load them with two outs. Hedges then took an at bat. 3-2, lead has been trimmed.

Eli Morgan🧯 entered the game next (didn’t see that coming) and was an absolute MACHINE. 6 pitch inning to retire Judge, Wells, and Stanton. What the fuck. Quick top of the sixth, and Eric Sabrowski😎 entered the game. A leadoff double? No problem, Jazz unleashed all three brain cells and got picked off at second. Brennan, however, fucked up, and it’s a two run game again. A second out from a pop up, and it’s Pedro Avila🍩 time again. Pedro was cooking, but this time it’s Rizzo with a lack of brain cells for the third out, and second TOOTBLAN of the inning.

Third horseman in, Hunter Gaddis☠️. Yankee lead extended to 4 runs. Ben Lively in. He stays in for the eighth. José shows life at least with a solo home run in the ninth, gotta carry that back to Cleveland.

Gotta believe. 7 game series. Have faith.

  2. We stranded a few million base runners and our starters cant make it out of the first two innings, but we are actually hitting them pretty well (if not clutch). Let’s take some games at home.

  3. Take the next three. They won’t keep making dumb mistakes they are better than the play. I got faith guards will make noise before this is over.

  4. Who said it with more of a straight face?

Antonetti: “We don’t need any more bats”

Stefanski: “Watson gives us the best chance to win”

  5. sucks but hopefully that was an awakening for Jose and will brennan gets lost in the Bronx… then we’re right back in this thing!

  6. Beating ourselves with poor fielding, plate discipline and managerial decisions.

Put up some early runs in Cleveland and make this a series.

  7. This is the worst Yankees team they’ve ever faced in the playoffs. If Guards play average, it’s at least 1-1 right now. No way Cle can win both 6 and 7 in NY, but winning all 3 in CLE isn’t that unfeasible. Maybe Josh and JRam turning things around, which would certainly help.

  8. Aside from the gifted runs it’s seems to me plate discipline is the difference in this series

  9. There are too many players who are not doing anything at the plate or on the field and sometimes are giving up runs with fielding errors. While I’d love to solve this with star power at least we need more average level production now

  10. Just more mistakes and no timely hitting. Fix those two things, and we have a shot. Got to go on a winning streak at home.

Most of these guys are rookies, including our manager. I just really hope they start to play with nothing to lose and bring it to these guys. We can get runners on base!

Also, I think we need to start thinking about using an opener. These guys strike early but they can go cold in mid innings.

I DONT HEAR NO FAT LADY!!! GO GUARDS

  11. They just were sloppy and undisciplined tonight. Can’t leave double digit ducks on the pond. Can’t be booting sure outs. Bullpen was fine. One bad pitch to the MVP away from 7 2/3 of no unearned runs. I get that starters aren’t gonna go as long as they did when we were growing up but that is absolutely unsustainable.

  12. Yankees and guards both played horrible defense tonight. The amount of errors was just unfathomable for mlb teams let alone the ALCS

  13. Just setting up the epic come from behind Cinderella story. See you guys at Progressive.

  14. Can’t leave 10+ base runners on. Can’t score 2.5 runs a game.

Too many absolute zeroes in the lineup today.

I like Bibee but he is not an ace. The 25-30 pitch inning is way too common for him to really survive postseason starts. Vogt has an incredibly short leash already.

It’s days like this I miss Yan Gomes

  15. my dumbass won’t stop believing until they’re packing up the clubhouse.

i legit think the craziest thing that may happen in this entire playoffs is us hitting that grand slam off skubal.

anything can happen. and it could be us to do it.

we just gotta play smarter baseball.

    back to cleveland.

  16. It seems like they’re beating our ass, but outside of a few terrible defensive innings it’s about even.

Winning 2 in a row at home is doable. Not looking good, but it’s not over yet.

  17. It’s not like the Yankees are world beaters. We’re just playing poorly. Sloppy defense and no timely hitting.

  18. Always turn into little pants pissing amateurs when we play NY. It’s unreal. They look very beatable but we’re too busy beating ourselves

  19. Crazy idea: what if, on Thursday, this team **REMEMBERED HOW TO PLAY THE GAME OF BASEBALL???**

  20. Feels like we need to win the next three and can’t afford to lose anymore games. We really need our starters to give us length though. Be taken out before the 5th is not sustainable.

We’ve killed ourselves these last two games. I still have some faith – Guards in 7

  21. Praying that it works is not an acceptable FO strategy for starting pitching.

Jose and Judge with Garbage time dingers…I hate to say it, Judge is probably the most likeable Yankee as an honest to god human being. Soto, Rizzo and Stanton are insufferable pricks, like their manager.

  22. I had to put my childhood dog down today. I really wish the Guards had won, that would have helped some. Love you guys, go Guards.
